06: The Grind of Corporate Life

Your days of spending time with your friends are over. Yes, that's right. You have to get back to work to be able to provide for yourself and give some support to your parents and Sei.

Lately, Sei has been busy after his mother got hospitalized due to pertussis and pneumonia, so he had to stay by his mom's side after working. Of course, you understood his situation therefore you didn't bother him any longer.

Being the supportive girlfriend you are, you volunteered to work the paid overtime for 2 weeks. Today is the first day of your overtime schedule.

You get dressed appropriately and ate your breakfast. After that, you got your bag and waited for a taxi.

Soon, you arrive at work. You were greeted by some of your co-workers. You went to your desk and organized your stuff. Your co-worker and friend, Elise, had given you all the paperwork you were assigned to attend to.

"Thanks Elise" "No probs, by the way, good luck with your overtime later. You're going to be alone with the grannies." She giggled, she was referring to the old women who had a superiority complex and thinks that youngsters like you shouldn't be accepted in the same department as them.

They're honestly annoying but you were taught by your parents to always respect the elderly and your seniors that's why you've always did your best to put up with their problematic behavior.

To be motivated, you glanced at you and Sei's pic from your anniversary last year. It was such a wonderful core memory of being together with him. Your morale was instantly boosted and you rushed the paperwork, but still made sure that everything is prepared and organized neatly.

After that, you submitted the papers to your supervisor.

You continued to do stuff that involved paperwork, encoding documents, writing and publishing reports and etc.

It was already 7pm, most of your co-workers are tidying up or going home already. Meanwhile, you remained in your desk to finish a report that will be submitted tomorrow.

Elise went to you, "Poor baby, I'll see you tomorrow okay? Good luck Y/n!" She waved and was about to leave when suddenly she remembered something and went back to your table, giving you an energy bar and a water bottle.

"There, you'll need it. Love you girl!"

You smiled and thanked her, "Thanks Elise, love you too, bye and stay away from the creeps!" You yelled as you watched her waved at you and enter the elevator.

Now, you were alone in your department with the elderly women and a few other co worker that you aren't close with.

By 8pm, you finished your report and submitted it to your co-worker for the final revision. She was one of the elderly grans Elise was talking about.

While reviewing, she kept grumbling and making weird noises. She stood up and told you that your report was lacking and you need to add more information about the work design your company made.

"We aren't going to get any investors with that presentation! Are you trying to get our department reprimanded? This is why they shouldn't be hiring youngsters nowadays, they just can't get anything right!"

You apologized and went to do what told you. You were mumbling stuff like if she didn't like it why not do it herself and how she's so grumpy and stuff.

As you were about to succumb to boredom, you saw Sei's picture again that was on your wall and you smiled.

"Right, this is for Sei and his mom. I'll help him!"

Now, you quickly finished your work and this time the old woman didn't have anything to yap about anymore. Soon, it was already 10pm and it's time for you to go home.

It's a shame Sei isn't that near your house. He's like 30 minutes away. You checked your phone to see if Sei had texted you but there's nothing.

You thought, 'He must be busy with aunt, I hope she's okay.'

That's technically everything that happened to you today. Now you have to do it for 9 more days. It was a pain in the ass but if it's for someone you love, you were ready to sacrifice your fun time for their important needs.
