— [ Y/n's POV 📚 ]
Today is my 2nd anniversary with Sei. I'm so excited to surprise him. I was planning on treating him to a dinner at a fancy restaurant.
It was a famous Italian restaurant, so I had to make a reservation around 5 months ago. I wasn't going to ride in his car tonight so I commuted by myself and just texted him the address. I made sure to tell him to wear a formal outfit as well.
I arrived at the restaurant and was led to the table I had reserved. It was perfect. The scenery, the music, and the spot of that table. I waited months to get this spot!
It's already the designated call time I told Sei to arrive. I was starting to get nervous because I didn't know how he'd react.
7:05 pm... no sign of Sei.
I continued to wait for a bit longer. Still no sign. Minutes turned to hours. I was so embarrassed. I had to order food and eat by myself on a table that's clearly reserved for two people.
I even paid extra for them to add some changes to the table such as adding romantic designs and stuff.
He's an hour and a half late by now. He's not gonna come.
After eating, I quickly left the restaurant and walked, my feet was starting to swell a bit since I was walking on high heels.
I felt pathetic. I feel like a loser. All this fancy accessories, this expensive dress, and he didn't show up.
After a tormenting 40 minutes, I had arrived at the beach where I had met Sei.
- FLASHBACKS -
I was crying on the beach. I didn't get accepted to my dream university, so I had to enroll at a university near home. I feel upset and stupid that I thought I wasn't enough.
While crying, a guy came up to me. "Are you okay?"
He had long beautiful dark hair, it was tied into a short ponytail. He had blue mesmerizing eyes. "No, I'm not..." I responded, crying once again.
After that, I found myself telling the whole thing I'm crying about. Turns out he's also a student at the university I enrolled in. I hope we can be friends.
I went home that night, realizing that I had not even asked the man's name. "Oh Y/n, what a dumbass! It's the first time I met a cute guy and I fumbled" I groaned and jumped on my bed, looking out the window, I wondered who he is.
Soon, my college days started. I was still hopeful that I'd meet that guy again but this university is quite big too. He could be in any course! I sighed in defeat, knowing I might never see him again.
During the 2nd semester, I was at the library reviewing for an upcoming test. I got up to search for another book about chemistry. While looking for it, I caught a glimpse of a familiar black hair. I was filled with hope again! Could it be him? The beach guy?!
I quickly ran after that, grabbing the person by his shoulder. Worst decision ever! It was a female student who looked shocked at me. "I- I'm sorry... I thought you were my friend." I apologized and ran away.
I found my book and went back to reviewing, wanting to erase that embarrassing action I had did earlier.
The following week, I was reading a book at the school garden. While reading, a shadow seemed to come closer to me and soon, it was lingering on top of me. I got annoyed and looked up to see who was interrupting my reading, it was...
"Beach guy..?" I uttered unconsciously as I stared at the handsome figure in front of me, he had short hair now but still looked as beautiful as ever.
He chuckled and said, "Wow, that's the corniest name I've ever heard." He jokingly teased which made me a bit flustered.
We got close, we talked every day and hanged out with one another as much as we could. I really liked beach guy. He was handsome, smart, and cool too. I have never been interested in anyone as I was with him.
Soon, I graduated along with beach guy. We were so happy. While I was celebrating with both of our families, he went away for a bit. After a few minutes, he came back. I turned around and was surprised with a huge bouquet.
He had a hopeful smile on his face, a tint of pink on both of our cheeks, "Will you be my girlfriend, Y/n L/n?"
It felt like he was proposing in a family gathering, but that was probably just me being my overdramatic ass again.
I couldn't contain my shy smile as I nodded and happily exclaimed, "Yes! I'd love to, Seiji!"
And ever since then, we'd been together.
- END OF FLASHBACKS -
I stopped thinking about how I met Sei. I returned to focusing on how he's being distant to me for a few months now.
I sat on the sand, not caring about my expensive outfit that I had worked months to buy.
I stared across the empty sky, I couldn't even find a single star. I was so upset. I soon found myself crying, I felt the chilly wind brush against my skin, sending shivers down my spine.
I cried silently to release all the negativity I'm feeling right now. I don't know if it's just because of the weather or my hobby of being overdramatic, but it's pretty obvious to me that Sei and I might not work out at all.
As I wept silently, I felt something warm cover my back. I turned around and looked up to see Kazutora standing, smiling warmly at me. He had given me his jacket to warm myself up.
"What are you doing here?" He asked, sitting beside me.
I was surprised to see him here, especially I'm having a breakdown right now!
I quickly wiped my tears and looked anywhere but him, "I- uh... I was just out here to get some fresh air." I could hardly say it without my voice cracking. It was obvious I've been crying for a while.
"I see. May I sit beside you then?" He asked politely, I reluctantly nodded.
I heard him inhale and then exhale the fresh air, "You look beautiful tonight you know. It would be a waste if you cried this night away."
"What do you know..." I muttered so he wouldn't hear me.
"I really wouldn't know anything if you don't tell me what happened..." He whispered back, looks like he heard me.
I was still crying, I just didn't look at him. I feel embarrassed if he sees me like this.
I heard him lay down on the sand, I turned around to see why.
"I know I said it would be a waste but... who am I to say that?"
For some reason, you laughed a bit at this. "Yeah, you're right. I'll cry when I want to."
He smiled, "That's the spirit."
I wiped my tears and laid down beside him, "You know... Sei didn't show up."
"I see." "I don't know if we're going to work anymore. I'm... scared. I don't want him to leave me all alone."
Kazutora had a poker face so I didn't know what he was thinking about now. He suddenly spoke up, "You know... I feel the same way. I like a girl, I like her so much. I'm afraid that once she knows how I truly feel about her, she'll leave me like everyone else."
I fell silent and slowly turned my head to look at him. He just continued to stare at the starry sky.
Unbeknownst to us, Sei was standing at the boardwork, staring at me and Kazutora.
"She'll be happy..." Sei whispered to himself.
