07: Bonding Over Brews

Kazutora knew that you had been working overtime for the extra pay, so he decided to surprise you with a little treat. He called you and told you that he'll pick you up for a stroll. You were confused but agreed anyway and sent him your address.

You quickly got up from your bed and went to the bathroom to have a quick shower, you didn't want to be seen as a lousy woman so you made sure to fix everything.

He arrived at your doorstep, knocking on the door. You were actually a bit nervous. "Why does this feel a bit different from the other hangouts we had?" You asked yourself before opening the door.

He had a cheeky smile plastered on his face, he handed you a small bouquet of your favorite flowers. "What's this?" You asked, a tint of red was visible on his cheeks.

"I wanted to give you a gift, is this too much?" He nervously asked, scratching the back of his neck. You shook your head and laughed, "It's fine Kazutora."

You were feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement, this was the first time you're going to ride on his car. He asked if you were ready, and you nodded.

You felt a bit awkward since you didn't know what to do while in the car. You were kinda scared that the drive to cafe would be silent and awkward. He finally got in the driver's seat and turned on his radio, you recognized the song playing. 

"Hey, I love that song!" "Really? I do too" 

It turns out this ride wouldn't be as awkward as you think. You enjoyed listening to music with him. 

After a few minutes, you arrived at the newly built cafe in town. You smiled and adored the cafe, it was just beside a large pond in a park. The cafe had a friendly atmosphere, the ducks swam around the pond while leaves gracefully fell around the area. This place soothed your spirit and pleased your aesthetic standards.

"Wow, Kazutora this place is so beautiful!" You exclaimed as you looked around, he smiled.

"I knew you'd love this place."

You entered the cafe, the smell of coffee being brewed tickled your nose, even its interior was lovely. A peaceful music played, small chatters of the people inside were minimized. The walls were painted with a charming shade of blue with white accents here and there. Various plants were arranged in the corners and other surfaces, adding to the cozy feel. The warm lighting casts a soft glow throughout the room, the windows showed the beautiful view of the pond.

You took a seat, smiling at Kazutora. "I still can't get over how... soothing this place is! It's like scratching my brain in a good way" You excitedly said, laughing.

"I didn't know you'd love this place so much, haha"

A waitress took your orders. You just ordered your favorite drink.

The two of you talked while you waited for your orders, "You're doing so much for me Kazutora. Do you really want to pay for my drink again?" You asked, to which he proudly nodded.

It's concerning you a bit that he keeps on buying you stuff every time he asks you out, you didn't want him to think that you only befriended him because he's generous.

"So... uhm is Sei the only boyfriend you've ever had?" His sudden question making you a bit taken aback. Out of all the questions he could ask to break the silence, it was that one. It made you giggle a bit.

You answered him, "Yeah. I remember he was my classmate during college and after we graduated, he asked me out."

He seems to be interested in your relationship with Sei. He continued to ask more questions.

"Oh that's nice... how long have you been together?" "This is our 2nd year together, I wish we'd last forever because I mean, we're literally soulmates!"

Kazutora's demeanor changed, but he still tried to keep the conversation going. "I see... you must really love him, don't you?"

"I do." You calmly said, looking at Kazutora. He smiled sweetly; you were sure he seemed a bit disappointed earlier... "How is he?" He asked. You were happy because it looks like you won't have to worry about him catching feelings for you since you just wanted a male friend that isn't after for a relationship with you. 

"Well, I've been working overtime to help him pay for his mom's hospital bills. That's why he's so busy and can't visit with you guys. I hope one day, we can all hang out together! You, me, Sei, and Chifuyu!" 

He nodded happily and laughed, "Yeah, that's right." 

"I hope his mom get's well from her pneumonia soon." He added. You thanked him but then froze a bit, "How'd you know aunt has pneumonia? I never told you that..." You whispered at the end. 

"Oh uhm, have you not? I'm pretty sure you did." "Did I? Right, sorry. I'm so forgetful sometimes." 

Finally, your orders have arrived so you two ate together while enjoying the beautiful view in silence. None of you spoke while eating, but for some reason, this feels more comfortable. 

After finishing your drinks, he looked at you and said, "Come with me, I'll show you something cool." 

You giggled and stood up, following him. He went to the park outside the cafe and went towards a tree. He pointed at the branch and that's when you noticed a simple looking bird house. You gasped and your eyes shined in excitement, smiling at him you exclaimed how cute the bird house was.

"I made that so I'm happy you like it" He proudly said, "Oh my gosh, you did?! THAT'S SO COOL!" 

He smiled then laughed but you hurriedly shushed him, he looks a bit confused. "Shh... look.." You pointed once again to the bird house. A bird was on the branch, examining the bird house. 

It went inside. 

"YIPPEE!!!" You jumped around in happiness, Kazutora looked at you with a loving smile. "He likes it Kazutora!" You whispered and he laughs. 

"Hm? Why are you laughing?" "I'm sorry" He uttered, still laughing. "Hey!" "It's just that... you're so silly when you're excited" 

You felt your cheeks get warm, the wind gently caressing your skin. It felt like your surroundings were blurred and it was only Kazutora in front of you. 

This feeling... feels all too familiar.
