THE LIGHT FROM BEHIND THE MULTIPLE CURTAINS GLARED ONTO THE SCROLL. Her eyes widened in surprise as the numerous words filed into her head. A grin appeared merely seconds after her reading.
"Mother! Prepare for a few visitors!"
"For what? Visitors? I swear to god, if you have invited any of your imbecile like friends, consider yourself a dead woman in the spiritual realm!"
"No— Never, mother. Goodness, I would never have them over."
"Let me see then, come on."
THE OLDER WOMAN, CLEO, CLICKED HER HEELS AGAINST THE FLOORING IN A FAST BUT MINIMAL PASE. Her brown eyes peered down at the girl, a small grin on her lips as she greeted her. Cleo read over the golden scroll and nodded in return.
