Eddie POV
I was sort of confused about Aleks’ newfound excitement in us. I remember that just a few days ago when I had first kissed him he was very angry and had wanted nothing more than to forget about it. I was confused.
As we sat there watching The Avengers, I decided to ask him.
“Hey Aleks?” I asked.
“Hmm?” he replied, sitting in a ball on the opposite side of the couch.
“Just wondering…why do you want to be a couple?”
Aleks turned to stare at me, a look of confusion spread across his features.
“I don’t know what you mean,” he simply stated.
“Well, a few days ago, when I first kissed you, you wanted to forget about it. You were angry with me. Remember?”
“Yeah. What about it?”
“You obviously changed your mind,” I murmured.
He smiled and scooted closer.
“Yeah, I know. I was scared at first. I thought that you and I was…revolting.”
I flinched.
“But now I can’t see what was wrong with me. I enjoy your company and how you treat me and what we share. I realize now that I was wrong.
“I realize it’s been a very short time since we’ve become a thing, but I just can’t get over how blissfully happy I am. I wake up every morning and get excited to know that you’re here. I really think now that this could work.”
Those few words made me ecstatic. I never felt anything so real since I first kissed him. It felt right, just the two of us. I didn’t want what we had to ever end.
It had been a short time since we began to date, but our love was one of those loves that was ever true. It didn’t matter where or when—we would always love one another.
I felt tears prick to my eyes and I turned. I didn’t want Aleks to see me tear up. I felt that in his eyes I was someone strong, and that was what I wanted to be for Aleks. Ever since we made it official, I felt weaker in terms of emotions. I guess love did that to you.
“Hey,” Aleks crooned from beside me. He moved closer to hold me.
“I’m fine,” I stated defiantly, sniffling.
“Right,” he began, “Now why are you crying?”
I was silent, but Aleks persisted. He stared at me, compassion in his gaze, and with that glance, he probed it out of me.
“Nothing. What you said was just so nice. It fits how I feel very well,” I finally replied.
Aleks chuckled lightly and kissed my eyelids.
“You’re so cute.”
“Am not,” I defied.
“Am to.”
And with that, the movie playing on the screen became just a backdrop—just a faraway sound—as Aleks kissed me on the lips. And it slowly became a battle to show the other just how much we loved them.
______________
This was a bit of a short chapter, I know, but it was also a very cute chapter. Just wanted to get some light fluff in there as well as an explanation for Alek's change of heart. (:
