Aleks POV:
I was sprawled out on the couch, the remote in my hands, flipping through channels with a bag of ice up the back of my shirt.
Eddie had quickly come to my rescue and gotten me ice. He helped me down the stairs to lie on the couch, where I now laid.
Eddie was in his computer room recording some Homies Power Level Friday, so I knew he’d be a while. I was half-tempted to jump on my own laptop and record some stuff, but I’d have to get my mic out to set up and I was in no condition to stand.
My mind lingered on the contents of last night, and I grinned. It had been amazing. Never before had I felt so radiant in my life as I did right now. It was amazing, and I was so happy that it had happened.
As I got to thinking more about Eddie, I realized he was recording and I hadn’t in a whole week.
I quickly adjusted my position on the couch, the ice bag sliding a tad more south than comfortable, and I held it as I reached over to the coffee table where my laptop was.
I opened it up and saw I had a few videos left to upload, so I needed to get recording now before I ran out of episodes. I knew I’d be here at least a week longer, meaning I’d run out of things to upload before I left.
I sighed, realizing my mic was still in a bag all the way across the room. I hadn’t even taken it out since I first got here.
I struggled to a sitting position and was surprised to find that my back was so numb that I couldn’t hardly feel a thing.
As I got to my feet to go across the room, a familiar song began to play and I instantly recognized it as Homies Unite by my good friend, Brother Blake.
It was Eddie’s phone on the table behind the couch. I vaguely wondered why he hadn’t taken his phone with him in to record, but I dismissed the thoughts as I wandered over to see who was calling his phone.
It was James calling on Skype, actually, and a picture of James making a weird face was Eddie’s screen saver for when he called.
I answered the call and James instantly began blubbering.
“Hey Eddie. So Seamus and I were thinking that we wanted to come visit, and before you ask, yeah, I know Aleks is there right now but we wanted to see the both of you.”
“Hey James,” I replied into the phone, a smile threatening to break my façade.
“Oh! Hey Aleks. You Eddie’s secretary now?”
“Haha, no. He’s just recording right now so I figured I’d answer.”
“Ah. So you okay with us coming over?”
“I’d love to see you two,” I said, but internally I began to feel worried. If James and Seamus were coming, then I wouldn’t have much more personal time with Eddie before I left. Plus, they didn’t know Eddie and I were a thing and I wasn’t so sure I wanted them to know yet.
“Well, great. We’re gonna leave here tonight and catch a flight. We should be there sometime tomorrow.”
Great, I thought.
“Sounds good. I’ll tell Sly, then.”
“Sounds good, bud. See you later.”
He ended the call and I silently whispered, “Bye.”
Fucking great.

A whistling Eddie entered the room, his hands shoved in his pockets, a smile creeping onto his face as he set eyes on me.
“Well hello there, my sexy Immortal,” he purred, prowling over to me.
I was positioned on the couch, huddled against the side, my eyes red and puffy. Once he caught sight of this his expression changed drastically, the flirty Slyfox gone and the concerned and worried individual here.
“Hey now. Are you still hurting? I can get you some more ice…” he said, his eyebrows furrowed with confusion. He sat beside me and wrapped his arms around me, burrowing me into his warm Hipo sweater.
“No, no,” I said into his chest, “It’s not that.”
“So what’s wrong then?” he asked.
“James and Seamus are coming here tomorrow.”
“Oh,” he said, not quite understanding where the fire was with news like that, but he brightened at the mention of two of his best friends coming to stay, “What could possibly be wrong with that? You love James and Seamus, don’t you?”
“Completely. But not as much as I love you, and I leave not too long from now, and if they’re here then we won’t be able to spend much time together, and—“
“Ah.” Realization hit him, and thoughts protruded, causing his expression to change. It seems he knew something.
“I was worried about that,” he mumbled and unwound himself from me.
“What? Worried about what?” I pleaded from my spot on the couch as he stood.
“I was worried about the time when we’d have to tell our friends about us.”
“So you feel the same way, then? You don’t want to have to tell them either?”
“No,” he replied, “I knew you wouldn’t want to. I have no problems with telling them. I knew you’d be okay with telling the fans a few months from now, and possibly even our friends later on, but telling them now you would not be. But why is that?”
I frowned and grabbed a pillow, huddling it to my chest. He knew me so well. I had always hated telling people things, which is why I frequently lied to my parents as a child and got in trouble so much. I learned from that as time went on, but not the telling people things so soon part.
“They may judge us…”
“They’re our friends, Aleks. If they truly are then they won’t. I’ve always told you that.”
“Yeah, I know, I know,” I said angrily, “But two dudes dating has always been…y’know, frowned upon by some people. Judging us because of their possible beliefs is something that will always stand in the way of friendship.”
I had stumped him there and knowing that I did flustered me. I relied on Eddie for answers all of the time and when he didn’t know what to say I always felt doomed.
“Fine. That’s true,” he began, “but think about who we are dealing with here: James and Seamus. James has always been care-free, so I highly doubt he’ll start shunning us when we tell him. And Seamus: he’s a bit different, sure, but he loves us both and would want the best for us.”
I sighed. He was right. This was our two closest friends—how could they possibly be upset with us for loving each other?
I felt like a large weight had been lifted off of my shoulders, but a lingering thought about who I was floated around in my mind: At the slightest sign of ruin, I’d run.
