Eddie POV:
The luggage was packed. James and Seamus were officially leaving. It had been an amazing week and I was glad it was ending on a high note.
“I’m pretty sure that’s everything,” Seamus said, coming down the stairs with a phone charger in hand and a few socks.
Seamus stared at James with a pointed look.
“I believe these are yours,” Seamus said, tossing him the socks.
“Heh,” James said, “right.”
“Well, it’s been a great week, gentleman,” I said.
We stood before the door, the suitcases on either side of James. I had my arm wrapped around Aleks waist, who was finally content. He gave me a bit of a scare that morning, but I knew now that he was good. I was curious, though, about what had changed his mind.
“You said it,” James laughed.
“Yeah, we had fun. Learned a few things too,” Seamus said, staring at both Aleks and I.
“Yeah, about that—“ I began, but Seamus cut me off.
“I saw things, sure, but I’m not angry or anything. Shit happens,” Seamus said, not talking to me though. He was talking straight to Aleks.
I saw Aleks nod, a tight smile on his face. His face was turning a vibrant shade of pink.
“Wait, what happened?” James asked, looking about between the both of us.
“I’ll explain later, James,” Seamus said, sending his friend a grin. “We have to get going.”
“Right. Well it was great having you guys. I’ll see you in a few months or so when I move down there,” I agreed.
James hoisted up his suitcase, Seamus following suit, and they stepped out into the hallway.
“Thanks for having us, Eddie. And it was great to see you too, Aleks,” Seamus said. “See you two in a few months.”
“Yep. See you then,” I called as they proceeded down the hallway.
I shut the door behind me and let out a sigh.
“That was fun, wasn’t it?” I asked.
Aleks let out a laugh. “At times, sure.”
“Well, you’re gonna have to get used to those guys soon. We’ll be seeing them practically every day in a few months.”
Aleks wasn’t such great friends with them, especially James. We hung out more with Seamus, giving him that exposure to him. But I had a feeling James and Aleks would make good friends in time.
“True,” Aleks said, and stared around the apartment.
“What are you thinking?” I asked, going up to him to hug him around the waist.
“I’m thinking that I leave in two days,” he said, still staring around even as I gazed into his eyes directly.
“Hey,” I said, grasping his attention, “It’ll be fine. I’ll see you before we move to Colorado, I’m sure. I know for a fact that I can’t not see you for two months.”
He let out a small laugh. A tear slipped down his rosy cheeks and I brushed it away with my thumb.
“Same.”
“How about we go out?” I said, trying to change the subject.
“What? Where?”
“I dunno,” I shrugged, “Someplace where we can hang out for a bit. Just you and me.”
“I don’t know, Eddie. I don’t really want to go anywhere.”
“And why is that?”
“I just don’t.”
“Too bad then,” I decided, “I’m taking you out anyway.”
Aleks gave me a helpless look and I grinned at him. He’d thank me later.
