Aleks POV:

The smell of tangy sauce hung in the air when I finally opened my eyes.

The first thing I saw was the TV, playing some show I didn’t know on abcfamily. I sat up slowly and stretched, nearly knocking my laptop onto the ground by my feet.

I quick grabbed it and sat it on the table.

Eddie was cooking up a storm behind me. It was some Mexican dish from what I could see. He was just putting it into the oven.

I smiled as he bent over.

Dat ass.

I stood and straightened my T-shirt.

“So you’re making dinner?” I asked.

He turned around and nodded. “You made me breakfast. Might as well return the favor.”

I wandered up to him and saw his workspace more clearly now.

He has a few pans on the stove, empty now, and a large amount of dishes in the sink.

“Goodness. What have you been making?”

He grinned at me.

“S’ppose you’ll have to just wait and find out.”

I narrowed my eyes at him and gave him a funny look.

“So, Sleeping Beauty,” he began, ruffling my hair, “I have a big night planned for us.”

“And what is that?” I asked, frowning while I fixed my hair.

“Well, I wanted to make you a nice dinner, so I did that. Then I ran out and grabbed a bottle of cheap red wine—“

“Very romantic,” I commented.

He shot me a look “—Right. So after that, I thought we’d just…talk.”

“Talk,” I said, testing the word, “Just talk?”

He nodded. “I mean, we can do something else if you want…”

I had a very slight feeling that he was implying something. I wasn’t too sure what it was I was missing, but I figured I’d know very soon. Eddie couldn’t keep secrets very well—not even his own.

So I proceeded to play along.

“Sounds fine. So I suppose I can set the table or something…?”

“Yeah. Now that you’re awake, Sleeping Beauty.”

“You already said that,” I reminded him while reaching in the cupboard for two glasses.

“I know. I can’t help myself. You’re just my beauty, and you sleep a lot, so.”

I giggled and ducked away from his gaze as I felt a warmth engulf my cheeks in flame.

“Dinner was amazing, Eddie,” I commented.

After fifteen minutes of waiting for the casserole in the oven to cook, Eddie finally took it out and dished us up a slice.
