(A/N) Oh hello! It's been a while! Life's been keeping me super busy these past few years. I've wanted to return to this story but have been experiencing a bit of writer's block each time I thought about coming back, but I think I conjured up a chapter that moves around it, and hopefully, it will be a smoother sail from here! So let's continue!
____________________________The past few days at your aunt's agency have felt like a loop, with the next day being very similar to the last. Wake up, patrol, train, then rinse and repeat. Either Aunt Kasumi's agency is incredibly good at stopping crime in its tracks or the crime rate is naturally lower here than you're used to back home. You initially craved the excitement of fighting when you first arrived, but ever since your aunt informed you about your dad you've had trouble sleeping. Now, you just wanted to relax, and the current schedule seemed more ideal. You were currently patrolling with Aunt Kasumi and Fujimori. You only had a few quirks in case of emergency, but the streets were fairly quiet, and the day was going by, so the chances of using them today were low. Fujimori returned to the agency leaving you and Aunt Kasumi alone.
"So, how are you like the Internship so far? This is day 3, you've got to have some sort of opinion about it!" Aunt Kasumi asked. She seemed genuinely interested in your answer.
"Well, it's nice. I honestly thought there would be a bit more crime-stopping. I-I'm not complaining though! Especially now since I've been feeling a bit more drained." You told her.
"Drained? Why's that?" She asked with concern in her voice.
"Well... with the entire conversation about dad...it's just. I'm scared. I've been living with him for years and he's getting worse and worse. I've had nightmares since the first night. I've dreamt that—"
"I knew it was a terrible idea to let you in on this," she mumbled, then grabbed you by the shoulders to face her. "Sweetie, I know you want to help, but you seriously don't have to. I don't want you to get mixed up in all—"
"But I want to! I want to help!" You declared.
There was silence between the two of you while Aunt Kasumi looked around as if she were thinking. "How about you move in with me? It would be just us! You wouldn't have to worry about your dad— I'm sure he wouldn't even think to look for you here. Plus, you can freely focus on becoming a hero." The offer sounded wonderful. You considered it a great idea, but two things troubled you about this proposal: searching for evidence of your mother's murder and the idea of changing schools.
"I'm sorry, I don't know if I can do that." You told her.
She was silent again, obviously hoping you were going to accept her offer. "That's okay, hon," She started. She internally reset her display of emotions before speaking again. "But if you ever change your mind you know where I'll be!" She told you with a smile. It was silent between the two of you once again as you continued to patrol the streets.
"Hm. The sun's setting," Aunt Kasumi mumbled to herself as she looked at the orange and blue sky and then back at you. "We've been out here for a while huh? Let's take a break." Aunt Kasumi said with a smile. You followed her to an area of street food and got a skewer of dango and a drink, then to the top of a random building using a quirk to manipulate the air around you and float to the top. You both sat on the edge eating and sipping your drinks while watching the sunset.
"Y'know," Aunt Kasumi started. You turned your head to look at her as she finished her sentence. "I have yet to ask you... how's school?"
"School? It's nice...aside from the attack at USJ, continuing to hide the fact that I'm even going to UA high for the hero course from my dad, and Ai—" You cut yourself off before accidentally bringing up Aizawa, and Aunt Kasumi seemed to notice the sudden stop. She looked at you, examining your behavior, noticing you twiddling your thumbs as you held your drink close.
