(A/N Okay, so I reread this recently and decided I wanted to rewrite this silly little story. So please pester me with comments if I go for long periods of time without updating. Casey from Fate's Strings ended up being an updated version of Kayla, so I've changed Kayla to Casey.

I've changed my writing style since this was first posted, so it will no longer be in first person, and it will also contain new content, like this first prologue!)

I'm late...!

That was the girl's only thought as she ran down the street. She needed to be home by six and it was now six fifteen. Her apartment was in sight now. The entrance was around the corner. She would still be chastised for being late, but at least she was almost home.

She rounded the corner in a flash, unaware that someone would be a short ways ahead of her.

"Ah!" She exclaimed as she ran right into him.

The force of the impact caused her to lose her balance. However, as she was falling, the man reached out, pulling her back onto her feet. Consequently, she was right up against him.

"I'm so sorry!" She took a step back, apologizing in a panic.

Her eyes widened when they met his. She had seen this man before, along with the one standing beside him. The auburn haired male was incredibly good looking. His magenta eyes stared her down, appearing amused even though he wasn't smiling. His brother had similar looks, although he was blonde. His white designer suit stood out. These two were her enemies...Luciano and Flavio Vargas. They were the counterparts of the person she was bound to, Feliciano, and his brother Lovino.

"Oh..."

She had never been this close to any of the 2p counterparts before. She didn't know how to react.

"You are...Feliciano's Attendant, aren't you?" Flavio asked.

"Yeah..." she nodded. "Ava Natale. You're Luciano and Flavio, right?"

"It's nice to formally meet you, ragazza," Luciano smirked. "We don't see you on the battlefield. You are their medic, correct?"

She nodded. "I'm better suited to the medical field over fighting."

"I'm a little jealous that Feliciano has such a beautiful ragazza as his Attendant," Flavio laughed. "Our counterparts must fall over themselves trying to get your attention."

"Not at all..." she chuckled awkwardly.

"I don't believe that," Luciano chuckled as well.

"We don't see many of you Attendants," Flavio mused. "There's only one or two of you that help out in battles, isn't that right?"

"Well...there aren't many of us around to begin with," she gave them a sad smile. "Most of the ones I met resented the one they were bound to for not being able to have a normal life. Years ago, they ran from the Capital to escape their duties. There's only a few of us left that I know of...and only one of them helps with any fighting."

"Interesting..." Luciano chuckled. "You didn't revolt against them like the others? Do you not want a normal life?"

"...There's no point in wishing for the impossible," she forced herself to smile.

"Sounds like you have it rough," Flavio's smile showed his pity for her.

"Not really...It's you guys that drew the short end of the stick..." she muttered.

They were both thrown off by those words. But before either of them could respond, someone suddenly shouted from an open window three stories above them.
