Light

Everything about the service left me stunned

Pastor Mike was preaching and then suddenly started to speak in incoherent syllables

Next thing I know was that I felt immense heat with my belly and groans escaped my mouth

Looking around me I saw people falling down

I've heard of this but I haven't seen it with my two eyes

With groaning strangely escaping my lips, I began to fall to my knees

Last thing I remember was that strange words escaped from my mouth

Recalling that day I came to know of the experience as the baptism of the Holy Spirit

My christian walk has had a major turn around

I can describe myself as I lukewarm christian then but now, I'm on fire for Jesus

I am currently in my room laying on the bed as I relive that day

A soft sound was heard through out the room as I jumped up off the bed to the small table by the corner of the room

My laptop displayed a notification saying that I just received a WhatsApp message

I know its wierd but since last month I haven't had a phone

Stupid device fell out of my hand while I was at the top of the stairs waving weirdly to my twin brother

My parents said I could use my laptop until they get me a new phone

I opened the message a friend sent me inviting me to her house to study together

The realization hit me that we have our AP tests next week

I quickly texted her saying that I'm on my way and dashed to my wardrobe looking for something nice to wear

I grabbed my book bag and digital watch and went out the room door

I descended the stairs and told my parents that I'm going to Natasha's house to study and they agreed

"Aren't you gonna take your phone with ya" my stupid- I mean my twin brother questioned

"Oh" he said as if he just remembered "I forgot, you don't have a phone" Jackson said with a huge smirk

Oh dear Jesus I feel like kicking him right now

As I exited out the door the word Light resonated in my spirit

That word 'Light' has been the focus of a bible verse during my personal bible study yesterday

John 11:1-16
I felt led to write in my journal:Jesus told His disciples that a person stumbles because he doesn't have the light of God in him

And what is this light? God's word

I then felt the Holy Spirit prodding me to read the Word more, digesting it in my spirit

Since then I've been reading the word like never before, and everytime my hunger for God's word increased

I finally reached Natasha's house which was on the next neighbourhood

Now my legs feels like I've been running marathon

Next time, I'll take my bike along

I rang the doorbell and in about twenty seconds, the door opened to see a beautiful freckled faced Natasha

"Hey Jayden" she greeted with a smile which soon dropped as a face turned into a concerned one "Are you alright?"

Oh dear, she must have seen me wincing

"Yes" I then added after a dramatic pause "I think" to which Nat rolled her eyes

"Girl come in, we have a lot to study"

Two hours later we decided to have a snack for break

Studying is really tiring I tell you

I wonder how those celebrities who dropped out must be feeling like to not go through all this stress

I looked at my watch and saw that it was 6:13

My eyes widened in dismay, my parents said to be home before 6

Oh Jesus I will really face a huge amount of scolding from them

I quickly bid Nat goodbye and thanks and dashed out the door

Whats with me dashing out doors today?

While walking I wanted to take a shortcut but I don't want to look like I'm in a movie so I took the much longer way home grateful that the store on the road has enough light emitting from it

After walking a bit I felt tired and I almost considered laying dramatically on the ground

Well.. It will look like I fainted

A group of boys my age were behind me

I could tell because of they were loudly laugh and their conversations can be heard

Next I knew was that they began to talk in whispers and my legs moved faster not in a running way

I held my book bag tightly and inwardly started to pray

Then one of the boys magically appeared in front of me

Seeing my frightened state, the others began to laugh

Oh Lord Jesus please save me

I wonder if the store owner is inside

"Nice watch you have there" the boy in front of me spoke slowly walking towards me while I also receded

But then I remembered that the rest of them are directly behind me and I abruptly stopped

They somehow tackled me getting my book bag and retrieving my watch

Its watches like this that kids around me envy

I think I will stop wearing it outside

My dad bought it on my birthday last year

They have the items in their hands already but the one in front didn't seem satisfied

I whimpeted in fear as the one I presume the leader curled his hand in a tight fist while the others ran away

His hand was midway into hitting my face when I put up my hands to somehow block him and said "Jesus" in a whisper

Bright light shone from my palms and the guy in front screamed in pain while using his hands to hide his face

I gasped in shock

What just happened?
