maybe the scars on my back weren't so old
and maybe you never imagined i told
that someday they'd catch you, the knife in your hand
and i'll say you'll never understand
but something was off in the look in your eyes
the vibrance was drained in the shade of the sky
it's never okay when my hopes are too high
and i blame myself, fell in love with a lie
they say that i'll never see you again
but shadows remind me of hands on my skin
and i feel your breath in the heat of the wind
i'm begging and screaming get out of my head
