Good Times

The crowds had been piling in, students were now dressed up in their finest formal wear while Daft Punk's album was blasting through the building like the sound of boulders.

We had just been dropped off by Ryder's parents, and I was on the lookout for Jasmine and unfortunately Devin—but didn't see them anywhere.

I was praying she didn't open that letter. But at this point, I had only a few more hours left before everything I had done would be completely gone, and life would resume as it did two weeks ago with the man I loved married to another if I didn't pull this off.

Right now though, I wasn't going to keep dwelling on those worries.

"I can't believe you, Ryder." I playfully told him, as we were approaching the gymnasium.

"What? I couldn't let my Tamagotchi starve this time. I've killed at least three of those things already." He shamefully admitted. I shook my head, laughing.

He had filled me on what he was doing upstairs the whole time I shockingly made a breakthrough of some kind to John and Marilyn, but I didn't mind it at all truly. It was cute.

"It's fine, I think it's pretty cool that you took me there anyway. Your parents are amazing." I assured.

He sweetly smiled. "Well now thanks to you, I have the chance to see for myself. Seriously! I have never seen them look at me that way before! It was so cool-"

But before he could finish his sentence, we suddenly heard a giant squeal from behind us.

"Faith! Ryder!"

Quickly turning around, Jasmine was running over to us. Devin was lingering behind but still all dressed up too in a black suit, as my best friend dazzled the crowd with a gold shimmery long dress. Whew! Despite my hatred for the man, I was truly happy they were still together right now, which meant that my letter was still in the clear.

"I am freaking out! You both look so awesome! Look at my baby girl!" Jasmine shouted hugging me tightly. I giggled and did so too.

"You do know she's a few months older than you right?" Devin pointed out.

"Oh, whatever. Makes no difference to me. She's still one of my own. Faith hon, you've never looked better." She promised.

"Aww, thanks Jaz! You look incredible too!" I exclaimed as she twirled for us happily.

"Uh, I think she knows it!" Ryder added on.

She laughed agreeing. "As if there was any doubt."

Entering into the grand main event, I could scope out through the crowd everyone having the time of their lives—even my new friend Andrew, who looked sharper than ever chilling by the punch bowl. But just as the music kept speaking wonders to my ears, someone suddenly bumped into my shoulder.

Looking over to see who it was, my night had just taken a dark turn.

Olivia and Andrea decked out in their designer dresses and shoes, looking like a million bucks. They looked honestly really good as well.

"Hey! Watch where you're going, freak!" Olivia snapped.

"Excuse me! Last time I checked, you were the one pushing past her." Jasmine interjected.

"Please, like I care what a former reject of mine has to say." She snapped as Devin smirked.

"How about I don't say anything then, but just kick my foot in your face instead?!" Jasmine spitefully replied. I smiled gratefully but declined her suggestion.
