she turns around and begins vomitting as evie stands silent, still facing me.

"for fuck sake" i mumble underneath my breath.

i open the door and slam it as i step out.

"you're getting rain in my car." i look down at evie.

she looks up at me.

"get in."

she stays silent.

grace looks up and wipes her mouth, a faint smile on her face as she begins to explain her thankfulness. until she loses balance and falls to the ground.

evie attempted to pick her up immediately, before she pleaded my help with just her eyes.

i grab her by the legs and throw her over my shoulder before opening my back car door, and gently placing her on the backseat.

she was still awake, as she removed her hand from my shoulders and thanked me with a smile.

i shut the door and walk around the car, opening the door before walking back to my door.

"are you gonna get in?"

i'm met with silence.

i sit down in the car and shut my door, subtly watching through my mirrors as evie walks around the car and into the seat, slamming her door and placing her hands on her lap.

the silence was incredibly loud.

...

"what time is it?" evie breaks the silence.

i pull my phone out and check,

"2:27am"

i hear grace whine in the back.

"can we go homeee?" grace pleads.

i look at evie in hopes she will give me some sense of direction.

"my phone died so i can't use google maps"

i immediately resort to make a snappy remark due to her bitter tone, but before i do i look at her.

she looks upset, almost defeated. her eyes were empty and her voice was plain. she didn't even try and fight with me like she usually does. she didn't even fumble her eyebrows at me like normal.

i don't know what happened but i didn't want to make it worse.

"let's just use mine, okay?" i say, attempting to reassure her with a slight smile.

instead of her flashing me a disgusted look like she'd usually do, she just stared at me blankly. no emotion at all.

i hand her my phone as she types in the adress and places it on the dashboard where i can see it as i begin driving.

she sits back and places her hands in her lap.

"why are you driving around like a pedo looking for teenage girls"

there she is.

i can't help but smirk at the remark. it was the last thing i was expecting.

"why are you walking around in the rain, at night, alone, with no phone battery?" i ask, genuinly concerned with who's idea this was.

"aww, do you care about us?" she coos, turning to look at me.

i look at her briefly, ensuring my eyes are on the road, especially since i couldn't see anything.
