A/N Hi guys, it's me again, coming from the sleep-deprivation capital, my brain. Ugh.

Anyway, sorry for the irregular updates, I'm getting busy with the big move (go check my feed for the info!) so I won't update on a normal schedule.

I'm in two shows at the moment as well, Newsies as Katherine and The Music Man as Marian. Very exciting! I'll write whenever I can <3

Also if you happen to see a musical theatre reference in any of my work, point it out in the comments and continue the lyrics!

The pavement shone like silver outside the Refuge.

Race had only been in for two months, but he was feeling the effects already.

He'd shut himself down and lost his sarcastic demeanour. His cigar was stashed away under his mattress rather than in his mouth. His face was littered with bruises and he had a black eye from when the Delanceys would come in and beat him up. He missed Jack, Crutchie, Davey, Les, even Katherine. He missed Jack and Davey's first kiss together, he missed Crutchie finally getting medical treatment for his bad leg, and he missed Specs and Romeo finally admitting their love for each other.

Race blinked slowly, staring up at the moldy ceiling.

He missed Albert.

His Albert.

Albert's hair, face, voice, clothes... his smile... his gorgeous eyes...

"Racer?"

Race didn't bother sitting up. He was sure he'd been hearing things.

"Race?"

This time, Race sat up.

"Race, it's me! Over here!"

Race swung his legs over the bunk bed quietly. He trod quietly, thoughts raging like the storm outside.

And there they were, two hands clinging to the bars of the window. Two pale hands... a shock of red hair...

"Albert?" Race gasped.

"Race," Albert grunted, pulling himself up so he was sitting at the window.

"I've missed you," Race whispered, tears threatening to fall.

"I've missed you too," Albert whispered back, doing everything in his power not to kiss Race right then and there. He would've found a way to do it while being on the other side of the bars.

"Why are you here? You'll get caught!" Race exclaimed, grabbing Albert's hand so he didn't fall.

"Why didn't you answer any of my letters?" Albert argued.

"Stop asking questions and give me some answers!" Race nearly shouted.

Albert kissed him.

It was awkward but sweet, seeing as it was in awkward circumstances. Race sighed into the kiss, wanting so much more.

"Let's get you out of here," said Albert.
