addiction is difficult,
no matter how little,
no matter how big;
it takes over everything.you'll be turning pages for months,
then put your bookmark
on the page where you left off
just to never pick up the book again.you might see it staring back at you
on the shelf in your bedroom,
collecting dust as time continues to pass.you'll occasionally catch a glance
as you see it sitting on the side table
by the couch next to the tv remote.the flashbacks of when you were
thriving without it and being the best
version of yourself you never thought
you could be.maybe one day, you'll pick up that
book again and flip through the pages
you had already read and take a moment
to realize that it's okay to start over again.
