Prologue

Everything went blank for a moment.

Before I could even understand what was happening, I saw him.

Him.

Aadarsh.

My worst nightmare standing right in front of me.

My breath caught in my throat, I had seen Aadarsh angry before—possessive, obsessive—but this... this was something else entirely.

The man I was looking at wasn't the Aadarsh I knew. He looked like a monster. Like something straight out of my darkest fears.

His eyes... They were bloodshot, wild, and so full of rage

They looked like they might burn a hole right through me. At this point, he didn't look like the one who used to hold me or take care of me.

He looked like someone who would destroy me if I made the wrong move.

I swallowed hard, feeling a cold sweat break out along the back of my neck.

I couldn't move, even if I wanted to—

My legs were frozen in place.

I could barely breathe.

My chest felt tight, too tight, like I was suffocating under the weight of his stare.

He was breathing hard, his chest rising and falling in sharp, angry bursts, and I could see his hands twitching at his sides, fists clenching and unclenching like he was struggling to hold something back.

But what terrified me most was the look in his eyes.

That look—like I belonged to him.

Like I was something he owned, something he would never let go.

"Ishitha..." he called my name, but it wasn't the way he used to say it.

It wasn't soft.

It wasn't filled with affection.

It was cold. Deadly.

It was a warning.

His voice was low, like a hiss, barely louder than a whisper, but it felt like a blade cutting through the air between us.

I flinched, my heart stopping for a split second as his voice seemed to vibrate in the cold air around us. I tried to swallow, but my throat was so dry, that even the gulp was hurting.

"How... could you?" His voice cracked-

The way he said it wasn't out of sadness or heartbreak.

No.

It was filled with anger. Pure, burning rage. His words weren't a question; they were an accusation.

He took a step toward me.

Instinctively, I flinched again, pulling back as far as I could, but my body wasn't cooperating. I felt like a prey, paralyzed in fear, every muscle in my body locked up.

My brain screamed at me to get up, to run, to fight back, but nothing was working.

I was trapped in place, and the more he moved toward me, the more I felt like I couldn't breathe.

"You thought... you could leave me?" His voice cracked again, and this time, there was something even darker there.

Disbelief.

Fury.

Like I had committed some kind of unforgivable sin.

The street around us disappeared. It was just him, towering over me, his presence looming like a shadow that consumed everything around me. I felt so small, so helpless. I could barely hear anything over the sound of my pulse hammering in my head.

I couldn't move. I couldn't speak. I could barely even breathe.

He took another step closer, his eyes burning into mine, and I realized then-this wasn't just a longing.

It had never been.

I was his most wanted possession. I was his wildest obsession.

And right now, I wasn't his wife.

I was his prey.

And he was here to claim what was his.
