Ishitha's POV

And my thoughts were interrupted by the sharp ring of my phone.

Jolting me out of the swirling storm of emotions that had been stirred within me.

My heart, already racing from the tension, seemed to leap in my chest as I glanced down at the caller ID.

Adi.

Relief and tension flooded me at the same time.

I needed to hear his voice, to anchor myself back to reality.

Without thinking twice, I swiped the screen and pressed the phone to my ear.

"Ishuu, I've found something," Adi's voice came through, breathless and urgent.

"It could be useful...come home fast."

His words sent a shockwave of hope through me.

Finally, something that could help me a way out of this mess.

My mind was racing.

Curiosity and anxiety battling for their dominance.

And I couldn't control the surge of urgency that rose within me. I

had to go, to know what have he found.

Without even thinking, I rushed to my wardrobe, hurriedly grabbing clothes.

My fingers trembled as I dressed myself, slipping into whatever I found first.

There was no time for explanations, no time for goodbyes.

I had to rush.

And the thought of facing Aadarsh again, of seeing that smile, that gaze, of dealing with the aftermath of my own foolishness.

I couldn't bear it right now.

I needed space.

Space from him and mainly from my conflicting emotions.

So, I left quickly,

Without a word,

Without even glancing back at him.

Author's POV

On the other side...

In the shadowed corner of a dimly lit room, a man sat behind a polished wooden desk, the only light illuminating his face coming from the faint glow of a single lamp.

He leaned back in his chair, a devilish smirk curling at the edges of his lips as he pressed a phone to his ear.

The voice on the other end was tense, hesitant.

"Boss, the clue you asked for has been planted in her house, just as you instructed."

"Good," the man replied, his tone dark and dripping with satisfaction.

"But...boss," the voice on the phone wavered, unsure of whether to continue.

"We also left a clue a few days back at Mr. Singhania's estate.

He found it, but- he couldn't dig more into it. And now...you've had us leave another one in Mrs. Singhania's house too.

I don't understand, boss.

What's happening?"

The man's smirk deepened into something more sinister.

He let the silence hang between them for a moment, relishing the control he held over the situation- over everyone involved.
