Ishitha's POVIt was almost 5 in the morning, and the faintest hint of dawn had yet to touch the sky.
My mind was still foggy with sleep, but it was time for me to wake up.
To look after Maa, send Adi to college, and head to work.
Yet, I couldn't pull myself out of bed.
My body felt too worn out by the endless routine I'd been following for years.
Ever since Dad passed away, I had no choice but to take on the responsibility of our family.
Maa's world shattered that day, and with half of her body paralyzed, she withdrew even further into her grief, leaving me without her guidance or support.
Adi was just a baby then, and I was barely more than a child myself.
I had no idea where to begin, how to care for them, or how to keep our lives together.
But all I knew was I had to step up, no matter how heavy the burden fate had placed on my shoulders.
All these thoughts were racing through my mind and suddenly, the front door burst open with a loud thud.
Startled and groggy, I sat up, my heart pounding as I tried to make sense of the commotion.
"What's happening?" I whispered, my voice barely audible over the noise.
My pulse quickened as the footsteps grew louder, echoing through the hallway.
Gathering my courage, I slipped out of bed, my legs trembling as I walked towards the hall.
Every step I took felt like a lifetime, my heart racing with fear and confusion.
When I finally stepped into the room, my eyes darted around, quickly taking in the sight of the intruders.
Nearly ten men, all dressed in black, stood there, their presence intimidating and ominous.
A wave of fear surged through me, and my first instinct was to run.
As if noticing my distress, one of them, who seemed to be like their boss, raised his hands in a calming gesture.
"Miss Chowdhury, please, we mean no harm. I'm Vikram Rai Singhania and We're here to discuss a matter of great importance regarding your father's property."
My confusion deepened as I struggled to make sense of his words.
How did he know my name?
And what property was he talking about?
Then he took a step closer, trying to appear non-threatening, but every instinct in me screamed to back away, shout, and call for Adi or anyone who could help.
"Your father, Mr. Chowdhury, left a will," he said.
"According to it, the property is to be transferred to your husband."
My eyes widened in disbelief as memories of Dad rushed back.
"What will are you talking about?
And husband?
I'm not married.
There must be some mistake," I said, panic beginning to surge through me.
Vikram shook his head, "There's no mistake, This property is crucial to us, and we need to secure it as soon as possible. Please try to understand." He said, his expression growing serious.
