'Nijika has been hospitalized.'

That's what Seika texted us in the morning.

'The doctors say she has some version of kidney failure.'

She added that on too.

The night that I got barely four hours of sleep on had me awoken to something that made me feel I could never sleep again. "Kidney failure.." I muttered. I was in shock for a moment, trying to process what I just read.

There's no cure for that.

Unless you're a donor.

I can't donate, it's not worth it. My body type might not be suited for hers.

...

Should I do it?

What if nobody else does it?

If nobody donates she'll die.

She'll die.

I had to process that again for a moment, what was going to happen to her.

Nijika was going to die.

Once I had finally met the truth, tears filled my eyes.

She was my first real friend in years.

The one who introduced me to everyone.

If it weren't for her I would have been down to nothing.

I was so happy.

God how stupid am I?

I threw my phone against my bed and began banging my hand on my floor too.

DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT!

I was on my knees now, tears falling on the floor, my mind spinning. The pain just wouldn't stop, but imagine what it was like for her.

My Dad had slightly cracked open the door,

"Hitori, we heard the news." He said quietly. I turned back at him, revealing my eyes in tears, he closed the door and left after that.

My parents let me stay home for that day. The only thing I really felt like doing was scrolling through my phone or watching a movie.

I tried to practice Purple Skies again on my guitar at one point. But then I realized that there was no point to it, we won't be playing that anytime soon.

Not sure if all four of us together would even play ever again.

Hours passed of me being stuck inside all day, and nothing happened. I only spent my time trying to distract myself from what happened, but nothing seemed to work.

At the end of the day I got a text from Kita. It read saying that tomorrow after school the three of us were going to play Purple Skies for Nijika in the hospital.

I wasn't entirely sure how that would work, but it would be something.

——-

Soon enough the day came, I was nervous but also looking forward to see Nijika. More nervous then excited obviously.

After school, which was dreadful, Mom dropped me off at the hospital where I met with Ryo and Kita in the lobby.

"Good to see you here, Hitori." Kita greeted while giving a smile which was obviously fake, "Did you bring you're guitar?"

I pointed my fingers to my back where my guitar case was. We then were called in and headed up to where Nijika was.

"What's with the drumsticks?" I quietly asked Ryo.
