Mary's kiss was impulsive although very provoked. She was so angry at him showing up out of nowhere, pulling her away from Damon -the male nurse, and grabbing her and forcing a kiss on her, but even all that couldn't stop the unhealthy feelings that he brought on her. And so she kissed him.

Mary wanted her bakery again; That's all she ever dreamed of. She still owned the place, it was just shut down because she couldn't help her grandmother and work at the same time and most of the money she was making went back into the bakery. She gathered up all the money she had saved up and called the two girls she used to work with.

"Don't act like you don't remember me, Jazz." laughed Mary to the person on the other line.

"Oh please. Who could forget the voice of the kindest woman in the world?" Jenifer laughed.

"Well, I guess you can imagine why I'm calling you. I want to open up O's again and I couldn't imagine the place without your beautiful smile." Mary said enthusiastically, her heart dropped when there was only silence coming from the other line, she feared Jazz had a better position and couldn't join her at the bakery.

"I always wanted to be like you Mary." She said "You were always so determined and happy to get work done." Mary, even though moved, didn't know how to respond to this.

"Do you know if Nina would be interested in talking about the bakery tomorrow morning?" Asked Mary, anxious on the possibility of all going wrong.

"I am positive she would be delighted to work under you again, boss." Smiled Jazz through the phone.

"Jazz, please. You know I don't like being called that."

"But You are the boss, chef." She laughed even harder knowing that titles bothered Mary.

It was set. The following day Mary, Jazz and Nina were going to meet up and figure out the future of the bakery they had once all worked and bonded under.

Mary ignited the gas stove that her grandmother previously owned and began working on her recently discovered recipes. Failing many attempts but trying again and again. Sometimes the caramel was too hard, sometimes too soft and even too salty. But after many attempts everything, the sugar cookie, homemade vanilla ice cream and salted caramel came out perfect.

She took a match and lit it. Hovered the fire over the crystalized caramel and watched as it melted, it was beautiful and with not one ounce of self indulgence or pride but a feeling of fulfillment she whispered to herself "It's perfect."

The following day Jazz and Nina arrived late morning at Mary's cottage.

The three were beyond thrilled to reunite. Mary demonstrated the process to the girls and asked for feedback.

"Luscious." announced Jazz after taking a bite "This is the best vanilla ice cream i've had in my life, and vanilla is pretty basic and common."

"This is the perfect way to make our comeback." stated Nina a full mouth of creamy goodness. Their genuine applause warmed Mary's heart, a small tear of joy dropped from her eye.

"Aw, don't cry boss." Jazz pushed her last piece of the treat down and invaded Mary's personal space hugging her, Nina did the same.

"I missed you girls." She whispered receiving their hug.

"We missed you more, boss." smiled Jazz.

"Jazz." slowly grunted Mary. They all laughed in unison.

A knock on the cottage door interrupted their discussion a couple of hours later.

"Who might that be?" Nina questioned spooked.

"Probably mail." Stated Mary briefly getting up from her seat. She opened the door and was faced with the manner of distraught that Mr Macallister sported.

"Why keep ignoring me when I call?" His tone was lazed with agitation and frustration. Mary looked back at the two girls who were whispering confused to themselves, she shut the door behind her and stepped into the pasture assuring that whatever may be said next would not be heard by the two eager ears behind the door.

"You think that not picking up the phone will take away my desires?" He began.

"What desires?!" Mary rolled her eyes already irritated.

"Mary, Im not ot going to let you resent me because of a simple misunderstanding." He was desperate, his whole body expressed it.

"Kissing. You two were kissing. How is that a misunderstanding?" She said her tone slowly becoming lower, she felt a sort of guilt for feeling jealous.

"She kissed me when she heard you coming." He claimed aggravated.

Mary couldn't help but laugh at the cliche movie scene he came up with to explain away the kiss.

"Don't laugh at me." He was hurt, his defeated voice said it all. Mary realized this when she looked into his watery glazed eyes.

"Why are we arguing? We're not together." She let out a deep sigh.

"What? So my past gestures of affection meant nothing to you?" He let out with all his suppressed emotions. Mary was silenced by her guilt. Her eyes darted to the floor, how could she look at him like that.

Neither of them had noticed the two girls posted on the window taking everything in.

After a long drawn out moment of silence, Mary finally looked up at him, propelling Charles.

"Mary, I love you." The words were sharp but sweet.

"I love you so much it hurts. It would kill me if I couldn't have you for the rest of my life. I think, breathe and live you all of my thoughts are of you. I want to spend the rest of my days with you. Mary, please. I now see every moment that passes by as wasted time, I could have spent with you. By your side is where I long to be. In your bosom is where I long to rest. I crave your lips each night and day. Mary, I love you. I love you. I love you. I love- you." He had made himself present to her body when he inched closer. Her eyes watered and her lips quivered, Charles took her face into his hands.

"I don't know what your daydreams consist of, sweetheart, but this is not one of them." He lifted her face and made her eyes meet his "I Love You." He leaned his head and placed a provoking kiss on her lips then wrapped his arms around a weeping Mary.

Nina and Jazz took it all in from the window, happily they whispered the scene to each other as it happened like the other was blind.

"Thank you." She whispered into his chest.

"You don't have to thank me, sweet baby." He smiled entirely gleeful.
