Tomorrow is Hazel's anniversary. Tomorrow is also the day I put my pride aside and ask my mother to lend me money for grandma's operation.

"Good morning, Vic. Is Macallister in already?" I questioned the red head smacking gum as I walked into the building.

"How about you go up and find out for yourself ?" She rolled her eyes, I smiled at her indecency.

Ever since I found her and Macallister in a very suspicious state she hasn't been visiting his office. It was always during her break, he seemed tired of her company but she didn't appear to get the hint. Mr Macallister probably told her off after that incident. Or I could be wrong and maybe he actually liked her company after all his expression is always that of un-amusement.

"Mr Macallister. All of my work is done, do you need anything else from me today?" It was nearly 6pm and I still haven't gotten a dress for Hazel's party. All of grandma's dresses were too motherly for me, as expected.

"No. You may leave." He said without looking up from his computer. I drove over to a boutique near where I used to live but all the dresses that I liked I couldn't afford and the ones I could afford resemble those of my grandmother's.

I decided to go home and find something to wear out of my unpacked belongings. I opened a big plastic container that I hadn't organized since I moved to grandma's cottage. The first thing I saw was the red dress I wore to my university graduation. A tear left my eye when the memory of me begging my mother to take a year off came back to me.

It was a tight red that stopped beneath my knees. I thought it wouldn't fit me but it was actually perfect and snug. For shoes I checked grandma's closet again and found a pair of string white heels, honestly don't know what grandma could need those shoes for, can't imagine her with a pair of heels on.

Bling- bling! Hazel sent me a text.

'Remember the party is tomorrow, 6pm sharp! Use the image above to enter the venue.'

I sighed how was I going to convince Mr Macallister to let me out early so I could arrive on time? I had so many things to worry about so I decided to worry about none and bake some macadamia nut cookies, Hazel's favorite.

"Here you go, Jane." I arrived at Listers 5 minutes late but stopped by my only work friend to give her some of the cookies.

"Ahhh I love you!- What are they?" Her pretty green eyes lit up.

"They are macadamia nut cookies." I replied and entered the office. I felt a few eyes on me which was not a good sign. Before I got to my desk he left his office and looked directly at me and yelled"MARY! IN MY OFFICE NOW!

Chills went down my spine, every face on the floor turned towards us, embarrassment would be an understatement. I scurried into his office as fast as possible to shake those eyes off of me.

"The papers for middle management that you were supposed to take down to them yesterday are overdue and no payments were made and now we are being charged interest!" His whole body expressed his anger.

"I gave those papers to Sarah from accounting yesterday before my lunch break." I maintained my calm even though my whole body was burning up.

"You must be deaf." The statement irked me to my core, I tilted my head making sure I heard that right.

"Those papers went to middle management. Not Sarah from accounting!" he continued enraged. I served him with silence, there was no question to be answered so I let him sit in my silence. His insult was unnecessary.
