Taehyung, who had just woken up, kept his eyes closed in hopes of drifting back to sleep. He had stayed up late finishing a presentation for their upcoming quarterly board meeting. However, sensing a presence, he reluctantly opened his eyes and was surprised to find Jin sitting in the lazy boy chair beside his bed, quietly observing him. Jin noticed Taehyung was awake, a warm smile spreading across his face. He got up from the chair, approached Taehyung, and gave him a gentle hug after planting a quick kiss on his cheek.
"Good morning, hyung."
"Morning, brat. Why are you up so early? Need something?"
Jin's lips puckered slightly. "Why do you always assume I need something whenever I come to you? I just wanted to greet you this morning because I couldn't kiss you goodnight last night. And it's not early anymore; it's already 11:40 AM."
Upon hearing the time, Taehyung sat up abruptly and checked his phone. He saw a few messages and missed calls from his friend. "Fuck! I'm late."
"Stop swearing. I've told you so many times. I hate it," Jin frowned at his brother.
"I'm sorry, it just slipped," Taehyung muttered under his breath as he continued to curse silently. He was supposed to meet someone on a date arranged by his friend. Taehyung had just sent an apology message and asked his date to reschedule, which the guy agreed to.
"Hyung, it's Saturday. What are you running late for?"
"It's just a lunch date, my friend set it up," Taehyung said casually.
"What if I don't like the person they've set you up with?"
"You've never liked anyone I've dated."
"Just like you hate all the guys I've dated."
"You never date; you just make out."
"Of course not!"
"You're too young to date."
"Whatever. Enough about me. I want to set you up on a date. I know this person and I think he'd be good for you." Jin said, thinking of Jimin.
"I'm not interested."
"But why? Don't you trust me?" Jin asked, sounding slightly hurt.
"When it comes to guys, no. You never seem to notice red flags even when they're waving right in front of you, inches from your eyes."
"That's not true." Jin whined.
"That's not true," Taehyung mimicked Jin in a small high-pitched voice.
"I don't talk like that," Jin chuckled.
"You do. You sound like a sweet little kitten," Taehyung said, trying to block the pillow Jin was playfully hitting him with.
"I hate you."
Taehyung's expression turned serious. "Take it back."
"I was just kidding. I don't hate you. Let me set you up on a date."
"I don't want to hear you say you hate me, okay? Joke or not."
"Okay, I'm sorry."
"Forget about that date. Did you have lunch?"
"Not yet. I was waiting for you."
Taehyung got off the bed, put his arm around Jin's shoulder, and led him out of the room to the dining room downstairs, where they found Namjoon and their father waiting for them.
"Dad! When did you arrive?" Jin exclaimed, kissing and hugging his father.
"I just got here early this morning, and you were still asleep. I was about to have Len go upstairs and call the two of you for lunch," their father replied, returning Jin's hug warmly.
