Secret | Jaehyun x Woonhak

(XIV)

"Woonhak-ah!" Jaehyun exclaimed when seeing his friend in the school hallway. He was a bit far from him, so he had to call his name quite loudly. He hugged him, but after a couple of seconds, Woonhak pulled him away as his was out of breath.

Woonhak wondered why his best friend was in such a happy mood, especially after the long, but necessary cry session just the day before.

"Do you want to go on a platonic date with me?" He asked with a bubbly tone, a huge smile made its way onto Woonhak's face. He obviously accepted to go to the outing that Jaehyun planned out. At least he thought so, he was pretty sure that he knew what they were gonna do on their time out.

Seeing Woonhak smile so brightly made Jaehyun also break into a smile. The smile that he loved so much. The cutest in his eyes.

While walking towards their first class, they discussed the timings for their platonic date, and Jaehyun told him that he would be waiting for him at his house.

They were extremely excited to go on their friendship date. They couldn't wait, it felt like it was different to their usual

Jaehyun impatiently waited for Woonhak to leave the house. He was pacing around, ever so slightly biting his nails. H usually wasn't like this, he didn't understand why now he was like that. It was nothing like him.

Once Woonhak was out the door, all the stress he had a couple seconds ago left him. He hugged him quickly and he then dragged him away.

"Will you tell me where we're going now?" Woonhak asked, Jaehyun shook his head. The former made him stop and tried to open his back, but the elder turned around just in time before he could see what was inside.

"Nuh-uh!" Jaehyun chuckled and pulled him closer to him by the arm; but that movement made Woonhak slightly trip over the brick. The older boy quickly turned around and caught him just in time, before he fell.

The two boys looked at each other for a couple of seconds in the eyes. When realising that they were in the middle of the street, they quickly separated from each other.

"Let's hurry up!" Jaehyun exclaimed, trying to get over the tensions that were most definitely not platonic. It was weird, things like that usually just pass off as friendly. And they both knew that this wasn't their usual type of interaction.

After a couple of minutes of — this time, awkward silence, they arrived at the park. Jaehyun took Woonhak over to one of the picnic tables and made him sit. He put his bag on the table and opened it.

"Oh! So a picnic!" Woonhak said with a huge smile on his face, Jaehyun nodded and took out some of the Tupperware from his bag. The first box he opened was filled with vegetables, cherry tomatoes and sliced cucumber.

The older boy took one out of the box and ate it, he gave a vegetable to his best friend as well. The next plastic box he opened was filled with exactly two homemade brownies. One for him, the other for Woonhak. The taller boy asked if he could open the next Tupperware to see what was inside; obviously, he let him open it up.

Inside, there were some basic, salty, chips. He was thrilled by the discovery and he ate a few excitedly.

"I didn't have much at home, I couldn't find anything, plus I wasn't allowed to go out yesterday" Jaehyun apologised due to the circumstances while opening the final plastic box. Woonhak didn't understand why he was sorry for something he couldn't control.

"It's better than anything I could ever do" Woonhak replied with a light laugh to comfort Jaehyun. He grabbed one of the strawberries from the final Tupperware. He was originally going to eat it himself but thought about it again and made Jaehyun eat it.

"God, I must've saved the world in my past life to have a best friend like you" Woonhak let out, not really thinking, Jaehyun furrowed his brows, he seemed to be in disagreement with him.

"No, I saved the world in my past life! You're a much better friend — you don't cry for everything and nothing!" He said, putting emphasis on the "I" in what he just said. Woonhak shook his head, if he replied to that, then it would just create an infinite loop. So he decided to change what he was going to say.

"We're both the greatest friend in each other's eyes"
