Mia is on her way to a motel, leaving the city after Roger fired her from the nursery.
Suddenly her phone rings, looking at the caller ID she thinks about letting it go to voicemail, but something inside of her tells her she should pick up.
"Hello, Reecy. What did I do for you to call me, after you won and finally got rid of me?" Mia says, she isn't really angry at him. She is actually happy to be finally free, but she is sad that she will not see Char again for some time.
The brunette having wormed her way past Mia's carefully build walls, and into her heart. That’s another reason why Mia is going away, she has to deal with some things, she doesn't deserve Charlotte, the personification of literal sunshine, yet. She would just ruin her, like she ruins everything.
She gets ripped out of her dark thoughts by Reece's voice coming out of the speakers.
"Believe me I wouldn't have called unless I had a very good reason to. Look I would be happy to never see your face again, but something happend with Char. She is not her usual happy, bubbly self, and it all startet after you left. She is acting out, raising her voice at parents, telling them to shut up. I don't know what is going on between you two, but she and Marjorie had a big fallout a few days ago, and she got shipped off to my nursery, and I can tell she misses you. I talked with Marjorie, she wanted to come in, and apologize today, but things escelated further, and when Char left... let's just say she was not in a state where she should be alone. She needs you right now."
"I'm on my way, thank you, for telling me Reece"
Mia hangs up, cursing slighlty as she turns her car, with screeching tires, speeding into the other direction. She knows she is a few hours away, and just hopes she will arrive in time.
"Please be alright, sweetheart."
Three hours later:
Mia parks her car in front of the bar, where Charlotte wanted to take her. She wonders for a second how things would have turned out if they really went there that night.
Shaking her head, she quickly heads into the bar, looking around for familiar brown hair.
It doesn't take long until she spots it. Char is sitting alone at one of the tables. As Mia approaches the table, she sees a lot of empty glasses in front of Charlotte.
"Hello, sweetheart." She says, as she sits down next to Charlotte, smelling the alcohol immediately, as Char turns her head towards Mia. Her eyes are unfocused, and she can clearly see that she has been crying.
She feels hot anger run through her, feeling her knuckles turn white with the force she is clenching her fists, at the thought of somebody hurting her sweet Charlotte, so deeply that she is sitting in a bar, on a week night, crying alone, while drinking her sorrows away.
She takes a deep breath, pushing that anger down. Right now she has to be there for Charlotte. She can let her rage out later, at the person who caused this. In this moment, she realises Charlotte hasn't said anything yet.
"Char?" Mia ask again, looking at Charlotte. Big blue eyes, are looking back at her, her pupils are blown, and her mouth is hanging open, as she simply stares at Mia.
"Charlotte? Are you okay? You look like you have seen a ghost." Mia gently takes Char's hands in her between her own, letting her thumb caress her knuckles, in soft motions.
"Wow, you are so beautiful." Char whispers, in awe. Suddenly leaning forward, invading Mia's personal space, their faces inches apart.
"I wanted to kiss you for a while now" she breathes, she is so close, Mia can feel her breath on her face, and smell the alcohol on it.
