Coming home

Today is not Charlotte's day. Today was supposed to be a good day. She usually had to work until 4pm, after work she would get her girls from her ex-husband, who brought then home from school, and then the three of them would go home, to Mia, who by the time they arrived, had already startet on dinner, and welcomed them with cuddles and kisses. After the kids were in bed, Mia and Char would cuddle on the couch watching something on TV.

That was how today was supposed to go, but of course it did not. Mia had been away the last two weeks, and just returned yesterday evening, extremly tired from a late night flight, she took to be home a little earlier. Falling alseep the moment she settled into Char's arms, while Char was holding her close.

She was just happy holding the woman she so dearly loved in her arms, she had missed her so much. Her kids hadn't even noticed Mia come home. They were already asleep. So Mia and Char wanted to surprise them, after getting them from their dad.

Char had to rush them quickly out of the door in the morning, running a little late, because she couldn’t tear herself away from Mia.

While she was working someone called in sick, which meant she had to stay until closing, which was around 6pm.

She was messaging Mia about the change of plan, on her break, when she got a call from the school both of her girls went to. Telling her because so many teachers are ill at the moment, they have to send the kids home early today.

Shit. "Marjorie, I have to get my kids from school. Too many teachers are ill, and they are closing the school down for the rest of the week. My Ex-husband can't collect them, because he is sick too. Can I bring them here until Mia can come and pick them up? She is busy until 2pm."

"Of course, my love. They can sit with Autumn and me, until Mia is here."

"Thank you so much." Char replies, and is out of the door, sending Mia a quick text, before driving to the school, loading her girls in.

"You two are going to stay with Autumn and Marjorie for a few hours. So please be on your best behavior. " Char smiles at the girls while they are sitting in the back if the car.

"Of course, mom". Ellie, her oldest says, while Maisie nods along with her big sister.

"Perfect. You two will be sitting in their office while they work, so you can't be too loud okay?"

"Yes, mom, but why can't Mia get us?" Ellie asks. Both of her kids loved Mia from the moment they met, and Mia loves them just as much. She does everything for them, showering all her three girls in so much love.

"Mia is still away, baby, but she is coming home soon. She promised, and she wanted me to tell you she misses you both so much."

The rest of the car ride is filled with the girls talking about their day.

"Alright you two, say hello to Marjorie and Autumn. I have to go into the rooms again, just ask one of them if you need anything, and I'll come check on you in a while. Bye, my babies" Char walks her girls into the office, shooting Marj a smile and a quick thank you, before going back into the rooms, helping Carly who can bearly control the kids alone.

"Hello, my loves. You have grown so much since the last time I saw you." Marjorie smiles, hugging them both, she visited Char sometimes after she had the girls, but with all the drama recently, she just didn't find the time anymore.

"Hii Marj, Hi Autumn" the girls wave at the other woman, knowing that Autumn doesn't like hugs very much.

"Okay, you two, you can sit here. Do you have any homework? Or do you want some coloring books? Or paper?" Marjorie had gotten a small table for them, where they could sit.
