It was the next day. The skies were cleared, the weather was amazing for a day out with families. On the unfinished bridge were construction workers who were working on the bridge. A pillar where they could have hope for since their land has been controlled by the evil and short man.
Sakura and M/n were next to each other, keeping an eye for anything that would disturb the workers. Sakura yawned, raising her arms to stretch.
"You always this lazy?" Tazuna passed in front of them, carrying a beam over his shoulder, impressing M/n a bit since Tazuna would always drink and didn't seem like the active type. "Where's that weird blonde kid and the one with the attitude?"
M/n's eyebrow twitched, sending a nasty glare at the old man.
"No. In fact, we're the best. That's why the sensei sent us here to guard you." Sakura stated, M/n nodding along side with her.
"Yeah!"
"You're joking." Tazuna said with a tone of surprise. Both Sakura and M/n growled at him for underestimating them.
"You wanna go?!" Sakura grabbed M/n's shoulders, enabling him from harming Tazuna. M/n was swinging his arms around, yelling nonsense to Tazuna, who the man just smirked at him.
"Tazuna!" A worker called out to the said man, putting his yellow construction hat beside him. "Uh, I need to talk to you."
"Huh? What about?" Tazuna turned around, wiping the sweat off his forehead with his towel.
"The thing is.. I've been thinking a lot about the bridge and I decided, I've pushed my luck far enough. I want out." It seemed this ticked Tazuna off because he started to yell at the poor man.
"Now you're going to quit on me just like that? You're kidding!"
"You know, I stayed on because of our friendship. But I'm putting my life on the line everyday I stay here. Gato and his thugs will show up eventually."
Sakura and M/n could only just watch the scene unfold. They exchanged glances, speaking through their eyes.
"When they do, they'll kill you and the bridge will never get finished anyway." The man sighed. "It's a lost cause, Tazuna. Why don't we stop now while we can still get out of this alive."
"No chance." Tazuna growled, getting a surprised sound from the man. "This is our bridge. Our Island is poor and it will stay that way until this bridge connects us to the mainland. Comers trade and hope, that's what we're building here."
"There's not gonna be much hope if we're all dead."
"It's already noon, let's break for lunch." Tazuna said, walking away from the man who called out for him but Tazuna stood his ground and told him to not bother coming back.
