Inspired by one of many weird conversations I have with bgallyisreadytoparty

"Would you like some more bread? Can I get you a glass of water?" The young waitress looked at you sympathetically, her words expressing how bad she felt for you.

2 hours. You waited at the nicest Italian restaurant in all of Calgary for 2 whole hours, waiting on your so called "boyfriend" on Valentine's Day.

This is not the first time you have gotten stood up before, but it is the first Valentine's Day he left you alone when he'd promise he'd be there.

You sat at the candle-lit table swirling your bracelet around your wrist, tears threatening to pour out.

"I think I'm going to get going. Thank you though, for everything." You said warmly to the waitress who kindly took your plate and glass off of the beautifully set table.

You were not going to cry now. Not with a full face of makeup and $20 mascara.

You made your way out of the restaurant, getting weird looks along the way, and headed out into the streets ready to go back to your apartment, but not without stopping at the grocery store.

~~~
You scanned the frozen shelves in the ice cream isle, grabbing the last thing you needed for tonight, and headed up to the cash register.
You plopped down a bottle of vodka and Ben and Jerry's ice cream on to the conveyor belt. The middle aged woman behind the counter looked at you strange, a young beautiful lady, alone on Valentine's Day, dressed awfully nice to be walking around, buying an oversized bottle of alcohol and ice cream.
Before she could even ask, you showed her your ID, and grabbed your bag about ready to walk away before she stopped you.
"Hey, Miss!" She said loudly so you would turn around.
"He doesn't deserve you hon. Get home safe." She said with a motherly smile on her lips.
"Thank you." You whispered barely audible.
Your slim fitting black dress came up to your collar bone, and had a scoop neck while it dipped all the way to your low back and the sleeves cut off at your forearms while the bottom of the stunning dress stopped mid thigh.
Your nude pumps, gold bracelet and diamond Tiffany cross that hung around your neck added a nice effect to the plain dress.
You walk home, vodka and ice cream in hand all the way to your apartment complex. When you reached your street, you muttered a quick 'Fuck It' and slipped off your heels before walking the remainder of the way, barefoot.
~~~

You walked into the apartment, the smell of pizza and the loud action movie blasting through the speaker of your living room.

Your best friend John was watching Fast and Furious with your other roommate Sean.

They heard the bottle of Grey Goose slam on the counter and your expensive heels make a thud onto the floor. You stood there leaning over the counter with your head in your arms, and you began to cry.

"Y/N?? Is that you in there?!" Johnny shouted pausing the movie and running over to the kitchen island where you stood sobbing.

"Listen, that Patrick guy? He's a jerk and he doesn't deserve someone like you. You deserve someone who will treat you like the princess you are." He whispered soothingly into your neck and you gripped his shirt and cried in his strong arms.

He didn't even have to ask and he didn't need you to tell him what happened, he just knew. He opened his arms and hugged you without any sort of connotation to the night's events.

"I'm just waiting for my prince to come." You muttered hoping he didn't hear how cheesy that sounded.

He quickly pulled you back keeping you at arms length examining you.

"Stop looking at me like that I look like a train wreck." You said trying to hide your face anyway you could.

"You're beautiful." He blurted out.

You blushed profusely and sent a quick thank you his way.

~~~
After Sean left to go to his girlfriends house, you were sitting in John's room, wearing his shirt and a pair of underwear, eating your Ben and Jerry's and enjoying the over priced bottle of Vodka you bought, while John had his arm around you and your head rested nicely on his chest.
"This may not be the best time to tell you this but, it's Valentine's and love is in the air..." He trailed off laughing while you punched him remembering your nightmare at the restaurant.
"BUT here me out on this one, I really like you and I would be honored to be your prince because you are the most beautiful princess in all of the land." He confessed, trying to sound noble at the end but you both began laughing.
After a LONG time of silence. You looked up at him and bluntly said, "I love you John."
"I-I love you too-o." He stuttered before he leaned in to place a sweet, calm kiss on your lips and your immediately broke out into a smile which made Johnny smile even wider than he was.
