We ended up staying awake for quite a long time. I hadn't fully realized how much Diego could enjoy gossip. We talked for hours about random people at school, our own parents and siblings, movie characters, and sports professionals.
And once the conversation shifted towards talking about our exes it just got 10 times more interesting. I guess I never really asked Diego about any of his exes before. I didn't think he'd have such a small amount. I've dated lots of people throughout middle school to now, but he's only had a few partners before me.
"Oh! Do you wanna hear about my gay awakening?" Diego asked me, a wide smile on his face, seemingly happy with the time we're spending together. "Oh my gosh! Hell yes!" I grabbed onto his hands, squeezing them tightly in anticipation.
"Ok, so, you know that trans friend I told you about?" He asked me and I nodded my head. "We actually dated, when he was still a girl. He came out to me during our relationship and I realized that I actually liked him more as a boy."
"Wait, so you're exes now?" I asked, tilting my head. "Yea, I'm dating you now." He answered, a bit too enthusiastically. "But you told me you guys were still friends. And that you guys still talk sometimes?" He nodded his head. "Yea...I lied about that part. I thought it'd sound weird if I said we were exes at the time."
I nodded my head, almost sarcastically. Diego just looked down at our hands, as if he were embarrassed. Then I laughed, he just looked so sad about such a funny moment. Diego looked up, surprised at my sudden outburst of laughter. He began laughing as well, joining me in this absurd moment.
We laughed for the next few minutes, catching the attention of Maverick because he started climbing all over us, questioning why we were making so much noise. I love moments like these, it's been awhile since I've laughed like this, with someone in my bedroom.
We calmed down a bit later, the exhaustion from the day now settling in. We both eventually laid down in my bed, snuggled up in the blankets, Maverick sleeping at the foot of the bed. We put on a movie, but obviously didn't pay any attention. We were too busy kissing, giggling, and climbing all over each other.
But soon, we finally settled down enough to get to sleep. Still wrapped up in each other's embrace. My head laid on his chest, his heartbeat being the lullaby slowly luring me to sleep.
He stayed still, letting me sleep even though he was awake longer. He rested one hand on my back, holding up his phone which he stayed busy on while I was drifting to sleep, his other hand on my waist, lightly squeezing the skin there. I don't know when he fell asleep but he must have eventually.
I woke up first in the morning, still tangled up with Diego. "Ngh...Diego...wake up." I lightly shook him. With him sleeping on top of me like this, I can really see how big he is, in every aspect. He's taller than me, has more muscle than me. I can probably guess how much bigger something else of his would be.
I giggled to myself, thinking of this. And then he finally woke up, taking in a big breath and looking up at me. "Good morning, sleepyhead." I tell him and he just buries his face back into my chest. "Morning." I hear from him a few seconds later, his voice muffled by my chest.
We spend the next few hours just chilling together in bed. Every now and then I had to get up to let Maverick outside and to feed him though. But other than that, the morning was slow, just us basking in each other's company, neither of us talking, knowing we didn't need to for the time being.
