It's been five months since el had broken up with Mike and broke his heart.

Mike laid on his bed, doing the same thing he'd been doing since that dreadful night.

Thinking about the memories of him and el.

"Hey el, Whats up?" Mike asked as he answered the phone.

El took in a breath.

"Mike, I need to talk to you..." el said, feeling her eyes well up with tears.

Mikes narrowed his eyes.

"Is everything okay?" Mike asked softly.

El sucked in a breath, not even aware that her next couple words are going to shatter Mike completely.

"I think we should break up."

Mike felt and heard his heart crack.

No.

No.

No.

Mike couldn't even say anything, all el heard from him was his breathing increasing.

Mike could only stand there, in utter shock.

"W-Why?" Mike finally spoke, voice cracking.

El sighed.

"With you being in Hawkins, and me being here in California, it's just not working." El said, feeling the tears running down her face.

"Oh..." Mike mumbled.

Mike gulped.

"Don't you think we could get through this though? Maybe we CAN do a long distance relationship?!." Mike said, now feeling tears running down his down HIS face.

"Mike, we can't. It's not healthy a-anymore." El said and sniffled.

Mike was trying to keep his sobs in as hard as he could, as was el.

"Mike, we'll always be friends... okay?" El tried to smile through her tears.

"El, I don't think I can live with that." Mikes voice came out pained.

El closed her eyes.

"I don't think we have a choice, Mike."

Mike hadn't spoken to el since that dreadful night..

It was too hard.

When el would call the wheelers Mike always told his family to not give him the phone, and when he answered, he would just hang up.

Mike found himself often crying himself to sleep at night or crying at the slightest mention to anything about her, reminding him of the 353 days he spent apart from her just years ago.
