Annual break was approaching, all the students were busy making plans for their break. Everyone had high expectations from their new leadership team. Currently, in Grade 10, the students were curious for the list of class divisions to be announced. Everyone wanted to know where they stood and what they will work on in the upcoming year. Ofcourse, the leadership team will be part of division A.

The list was published on the notice board, there were only 30 students in division A and 50 in Division B including Nate and Maddy. This means they will have limited interactions with Richa and Jess.

Richa sent a message to Jess, "Did you see the list? Nate is in division B. Are you happy?"Richa thought Jess hates Nate and will be happy to know that he was in division B. She didn't know Jess enough to understand how she thought, Jess didn't care about her surroundings much. She did what she wanted to and tried to achieve the results she wanted.

"Yeah, that was expected. I had seen his portfolio and he still has a long way to go. If he works for it he will be able to achieve a better ranking in VCE. It's good for him to be in division B, this will keep him focused.", Jess texted back to Richa. She added immediately after that, "Richa, I don't hate anyone. I don't think I have faced something so cruel to hate anyone yet. I feel it's too soon to harbor such feelings for anyone at such a young age. Because I know for sure, if I hate or love someone I will do it for my whole life."

When Richa read this text, she stared at Jess in surprise, she always thought Jess was cunning, complex and a show off. She was surprised by Jess and was left speechless almost everyday, it was as if she was getting to know this person for the first time. Well, it was true, Jess didn't have many friends due to the same reasons. Almost all her classmates had similar thoughts about her and the icing was they all thought she was poor.

It was not Jess's fault, people like to judge the book from its cover. Jess was used to keeping a low profile and only showed her strengths when required. But that would give everyone face slaps and a miss understanding that she was a show off. Jess didn't care about this. Richa was her first friend in school and Jess liked her.

Richa sent another text to Jess, "Please try to join us for the camp. I don't feel like going without you."

Jess replied after thinking for a while, "Let me ask my dad."

Jess also wanted to go, this was an opportunity which could create a bond between the team and help them perform better. She already made a pros and cons list in her head and as expected there were more pros. That's when she thought she would ask her dad for permission.

On her way to the library, Jess called her dad.

"Hi dad."

"Hello my sweet pea. I hope everything is alright. It is unlike you to be so serious with me."

"Dad, I will be graduating from school in a couple of years, why do you still use the toddler names for me?"Jess said annoyingly. Her dad loved teasing her with silly toddler names.

"My princess, I don't want you to grow up so soon, that's why I keep calling you these names."

Jess grunted, again annoyed that her dad called her princess.

"Ok. No more teasing, tell me is everything OK? You are taking toddler names very seriously today." her dad asked in a worried tone.

"Yeah, everything is fine.", Jess said and continued after a pause, "Can I get a couple of days during this break?"

"Why? You know, we don't have as much time as we need to work on the plan. If you take a couple of days, we might have to drop a few things."

"Dad, this is important. You know I wouldn't ask if it was not that important. I understand the importance of all the activities you arrange for me during the break and I always look forward to the challenges."
