Underestimated Heiress

CHAPTER 14 - Camp Day 2

Jess was not sure where she will sleep tonight, while she was lost deep in thought, Colin tapped her on her shoulder from behind. Jess jumped and turned to look at Colin, she said, "You scared me.". Colin smiled, he was thinking,"so I scare her but not the strangers, she is weird."

Colin said, "Richa told me everything over text, where are you planning to sleep tonight?" he asked Jess, he had his arms folded across his chest and had an expression that said, 'you can't figure out everything by yourself'. Jess replied, "I don't have a solution yet, but I am in no mood for an argument right now, I will deal with those girls tomorrow."

"Come with me, you can sleep in my car.", Colin said.

Jess was hesitant, she didn't want to sleep in his car, it was not safe. She thought for a while and asked, "Do you have space for 1 more person in your(boys) tent."

Colin almost laughed out loud before he asked, "you will sleep in the boys tent?"

"That is better than sleeping alone in the car, we all will sleep in our sleeping bags, I don't think it should be a problem.", Jess replied.

Colin thought before he said, "We can make some space. Stay here for a few minutes, I will give heads up to all the boys and then come to get you."

Jess nodded, she thought she would talk to her parents until then. She called her dad and told him everything that had happened with bodyguards. He agreed that he had sent them, and maybe they were caught because they were not being careful enough. Then they spoke about Jess's day, where Jess conveniently skipped the part about Colin's mom and then the girls who bullied her. She only shared her experience about the activities and her learnings. She also spoke to her mom and her brother. They all had a good chat for quite some time, laughing and making jokes. Jess didn't realize that Colin was standing behind her for more than 5 minutes and listening to her conversation. When she was done, she disconnected the call and was smiling when Colin said, "Well, that sounded very warm. You have a good family."

Jess turned around but was irritated, she said, "you should not listen to someone else's conversation without their permission. These were the basic manners taught to me."

Colin smirked and said, "I didn't want to disturb you but also didn't want to leave you here alone at night for long. Come let's go, we made some space for you."

Jess humphed and went with Colin into the boys' tent, she said "My apologies everyone for any inconvenience this might cause and thank you for accommodating me."

Jess was really thankful to Colin for making it work, she didn't know what she would have done. She settled down in her sleeping bag comfortably and soon fell asleep.

All the boys were very angry with the girls, how dare they bully the president. Lucas, cultural captain sent a text message to Geeta, another cultural captain, "how can a big tent cannot accommodate 5 girls? We have a same size tent and we can easily accommodate 6 people. We are here to build team relationships and not bully each other. Leadership team is built based on the basis of achievements and qualifications and not social status. Please pass this message to all the girls and also remind them the warning that Colin gave in our first meeting", after he sent the message, he was waiting for Geeta to reply, the status changed to typing for a long time but Lucas didn't receive a response. After some time Geeta sent a message that said, "Ok."

In the girls' tent, Geeta told everyone what Lucas said, and all the girls except Richa started gossiping about Jess sleeping in the boys' tent. They all thought of her as shameless and opportunist, Richa tried to explain Jess's situation to them but she was 1 against 3 and didn't stand much chance. After a lot of discussion, the girls decided to not bully Jess anymore but it was not possible for the girls to ignore the fact that she was poor.
