Underestimated Heiress

CHAPTER 18 - Family time

Eric pulled Jess outside of the swimming pool, then he pumped the water out of her stomach. He checked her pulse, it was normal, but she was burning hot. Jenna called the doctor and Eric carried Jess to her room, while Jenna quickly changed and followed Eric to Jess' room. She had already asked her servant to get some cold water bandages in Jess' room.

She said to Eric, "please go and change, you are wet and might catch a cold. I have called the doctor, he should be here in a few minutes, until then I will put some cold bandages on her forehead to bring down her temperature.

Eric nodded, but from the moment he saw Jess faint his expressions were cold and dangerously calm, he hadn't said a word. While walking out Jenna saw Eric making a call to someone, she heard a commanding voice, "I want everything about him on my table before dinner." She knew that Eric wont let this slide, his family was very important to him and he will do whatever it takes to protect his family. While Eric was gone, Jenna changed Jess's clothes with the help of Jenna's former nanny.

The doctor arrived and the butler guided him to Jess's room. The servants were asked to wait outside of the room except Jess's former nanny, so the butler was waiting outside Jess's room. When Ethan heard what happened he also rushed to see his sister but was stopped near the door by her mother. She told him to wait outside and not to worry. Eric had changed his clothes and both Jenna and Eric were sitting on each side of Jess. They took turns while putting the cold bandages on Jess's forehead.

When the doctor arrived, Eric got up to allow the doctor to examine Jess. Eric explained everything that had happened in the pool and he also added that he thought Jess might be swimming to relieve her stress. He skipped the details as he didn't think it was necessary for the physical examination.

After examining Jess thoroughly, the doctor said, "No need to worry, she is exhausted and swimming non stop was a cherry on top. It's normal for the body to react this way to overexertion. Let her rest for a few days, once she gets better we will do a routine blood test of both the kids, it has been pending for a while. But please make sure that she takes complete rest and listens to my advice."

"Sure. thanks mate.", Eric said to the doctor.

The doctor nodded and looked at Jenna, she was still putting cold bandages on Jess' forehead, he said, "Jenna, her fever is much better, why don't you let her rest? I would like a cup of coffee with you two."

"Sure Chris." Jenna said, then she kissed Jess's forehead and tugged her in the blanket and walked out with Eric. They sat in the sunroom still quiet and worried. Chris understood that they were hiding something from him. He asked casually, "Is she stressed because of a boy?"

Jenna and Eric looked at each other, "We don't know."Jenna said, she paused and continued, "Sometimes I feel I don't know anything about her. She is a very mature and smart girl, all her decisions are practical but she is still little. No matter how much I try to protect her, I always fall short. I wish I knew what was going on in her mind, I wish I could solve all her problems but unfortunately the truth is she will have to solve them on her own. All I can do is be there for her and support her."

Chris knew both the parents were worried about Jess, Chris had known Jess and this family since she was 5 years old. He said, "I am worried about you two, she is just a teenager, give her some time and space, she will be fine."

Both Jenna and Eric nodded, after confirming that the parents were still listening, Chris continued, "I don't think it's required but after looking at you two I thought I should suggest therapy. If she is depressed, send her for therapy."after giving his advice, Chris left.

Jess slept for 15 hours straight, when she woke up she was hungry. Her breakfast was brought to her room but she didn't want to stay there, so she put on a warm robe and went down for breakfast in the sunroom. Her parents and Ethan were surprised to see her, they looked concerned and told her to go back to her room.
