Jess and Ethan took longer than expected to process the information shared by Eric. They always thought that Eric's life would have been very easy as he was born into a rich family, they didn't think that he was thrown out of the family just because he was honest and simple. What kind of family would do that to their own children and all Eric mentioned was his grandfather, what about his parents! How did they allow someone to treat their child like that? Jess had many questions, her curiosity to know more about her parents was suffocating. But Jess knew that she should wait and take it slow, she was confident that her father would share all the information with them.

After a week of rest, Jess resumed her activities that helped her take her mind off from all the questions she had about her parents. She had studied the contracts given by her dad and prepared a presentation. Eric had invited all the major stakeholders to keep things transparent, they all joined via video conferencing, he also asked Ethan to attend.

Jess was dressed in a formal business outfit, she looked confident and decisive just like her dad. For a moment everyone in the room forgot that she was a high school student, the way she presented and shared her thoughts, every thought backed up with enough data and statistics; the way she had studied the current market and compared the options with changing market conditions was impressive. When Jess started presenting, Eric was only looking at her as a proud father but when she supported her claims with data and went into details Eric became serious and thought as a businessman. She had covered everything, also the small components which they didn't expect her to consider, he felt amazed with the amount of research Jess had done.

Jess finished her presentation and gave everyone an opportunity to ask questions, she answered all the questions and presented references wherever possible. Everyone was impressed with her business sense and her attitude to solve the problems. The presentation was a success and the video conference ended. Eric and Ethan were still sitting in the room where Jess was packing up all the stuff. Eric asked Ethan, "What do you think?"

Ethan, still surprised, nodded his head and said, "you should give the business to her, she deserves it." Eric laughed out loud.

Jess looked at both of them confused, she asked,"Why are you laughing dad?"

Eric said, "nothing, Ethan said a joke. Good job, I am proud of you. There were few things you should know, do not show reference until asked, only mention them as showing them could backfire and statistics should always be referred to as approximate range so that no one can challenge the number, everything else was perfect."

Jess nodded her head and said, "I will keep those pointers in mind, thank you."

Jess packed her stuff and walked towards the door, she said before walking out of the room, "dad, I am ready to spar with you tomorrow, let me know when you have some time."

Eric was taken aback for a moment when Jess didn't wait for Eric's response, he noticed that Jess didn't smile or looked happy at all. What was she thinking? After their discussion the other day she didn't speak much. Eric was getting worried, did she misunderstand them? Did she doubt her parents? He decided to talk to her but she was so busy that she skipped family dinner and lunch. It seemed as if she was avoiding her family.

It was the day when she was to spar with her father in jiu jitsu for the next belt. Jess was well prepared, she got ready and went on the mat, her coach was their referee. She was warming up while waiting for her father. Eric walked in in his jiu jitsu outfit, he had a black belt. Jess was both proud and happy to see her dad being serious.

The coach gave the details for the levels that Jess is on and explained the process of scoring. Eric nodded but he had a cunning smile, he was not the one to stick to the rules. He always liked to challenge his kids and expect them to perform well.
