his head against the window of dicks Porsche, bastian begins to doze off the effects of the night before lingering in his mind. his eyes flick back to rachel in the backseat who is wringing her hands nervously. she has questions. questions dick nor bastian know the answer to, both of them wishing they could help her in some way. eventually bastian falls asleep, praying his powers will just let him rest for once, but as he stands in the dark streets of a city, he knows its not going to happen.

"chain his legs." a male voice echos around him, making his eyes flicker to each side of him. to his left is a group of men and a guy dressed in some sort of eagle costume being chained down.

"what the fuck?" bastian mutters to himself, this wasn't like the usual dreams-if you could even call them that- he had had before. this was different, almost realistic.

"oh yeah set the mood." eagle man rasps out, "you guys in the boy scouts? thats a nice knot."

bastian continues to creep towards them hiding behind a dumpster. he watches the interaction carefully unsure of what to do. there was no way this was a dream, which meant his powers were trying to tell him something. something that had to do with the grown man dressed as a bird, maybe he needed help. but if that were the case then why would bastians powers bring him here? his powers were a dark force, ones that gave him warnings or chances to join the dark side and let them take over, not chances to help someone in need. his powers never worked like that. he was a walking nightmare destined to be corrupted and consumed.

"who do you work for?" the man from before asked, making bastian snap out of his thought and refocus on the scene in front of him.

"all the people your guns hurt, mother fucker." eagle man responded. his answer was coded and bastian couldn't even begin to easily read through it as he usually did.

they conversed for a while, the 'fight' as some would call it seeming to go nowhere.

"take his pants down." the man commanded, causing bastians eyes to go wide.

"uh, no thank you." he muttered squeezing his eyes shut, trying to pull himself out of what ever weird dreamscape he had been placed in. "c'mon, c'mon, c'mon..." now matter how hard he tried he couldn't reconnect to his own body. he just hoped that they were soon arriving at their destination and that dick would wake him up before things got too far. to respect eagle mans privacy he turned around, no longer paying any attention to the events in front of him and plugging his ears to tune all of the noises and words out.

when he opened his eyes next he saw a woman, also weirdly dressed as a bird standing in front of the man dressed as an eagle. he removed his hands from his ears but both were talking too quietly for him to hear. he inched his way closer, quietly creeping. it wasn't entirely necessary to be quiet, it wasn't like anybody would be able to hear him anyway, but he was used to being stealth on the dark streets, a survival tactic he learned from his months of living and fighting with dick.

"maybe i should leave you hanging like this." the woman tells eagle man.

"whatever turns you on." he responded.

"ew." bastian whispered, jumping back slightly as both their heads turned to him.

"did you hear that?" the woman asked, as she helped the man out of his binds.

"i'm sure it was nothing." the man replied.

bastian woke with and sharp inhale sitting up in his seat. a growing migraine forming causing him to rub his temple.

" you okay?" dick asked his eyes flickering from the road to the boy in his passenger seat.

"fine." he mumbles avoiding his gaze. the elder sighs turning his head back to the road ahead. after a little while longer of driving, they pull into a parking lot of a diner. dick parks the car and they all get out making their way inside.
