Realization

When Neil woke up , he could think only one thing : Todd , he paced through the boy's mind all day everyday and Neil couldn't describe why , until he had the sudden realisation at 2 in the morning when all he could think about was the boy lying beside him solemnly that he was in love. Not just with a girl , the norm , but a boy who couldn't even read a poem to a class , and yet he loved the same boy.

Todd however had loved Neil for a long time and his notebook was scribbled with phenomenal love poems that would put Shakespeare to shame. Every time Neil presented a poem to the class , Todd would have to conceal his amazement at Neil's confidence to do things like read poetry aloud or even state his opinion and debate with everyone while laughing at their points. He loved everything about Neil and he wasn't so great at concealing it .

'Alright , who's reading their poem first?' Charlie asked at a Dead Poets Society meeting 'I vote Todd!' Neil said , laughing and joking as everyone agreed 'I can't..' they all acted confused , but Charlie knew why. 'Neil can I talk to you outside of the cave for one second , please?' 'Whoa , where did polite Charlie come from?' 'Shut up Knoxious , anyway , Neil?' They both walked out of the cave and as soon as they were out of all the poet's earshot , Charlie took Neil by the collar and said 'I know what Todd's poem is about , and I know you like him.' 'WHAT IS HIS POEM ABOUT???' 'God , calm down loverboy.. It's a love poem , no doubt about you.' 'YOU THINK IT'S ABOUT ME' Neil's face turned red 'I need to hear that poem.'

When Charlie and Neil returned to the cave , they ser greeted by 'Gosh , you missed Todd's poem' from Knox , again. 'WHAT' Neil exclaimed , then trying to play it off hilariously by awkwardly smiling and putting his hand on the side of his head and attempting to lean against the side of the cave and falling down , making all of the poets laugh hysterically, but Todd was the only one he was focused on , his cute laughing face and how he looked straight into Neil's eyes. 'Just kidding , you couldnt've been that surprised..but we did convince Todd to read his poem!' Todd stood up and cleared his throat , beginning to read the poem

Everyone looked at Todd amazed at how he could think up such a poem even if he'd never exhibited knowing such poetry before , but Neil looked at him with love, with awe at his husb- friend's poem. 'Wow , Todd, that was beautiful' Neil said 'Yeah , but it's getting late , we should all go back to our dorms.' Charlie winked at Neil. 'True..' Todd said , and they started their voyage back to the dorms. When they were alone , Neil decided to confess to Todd , put in a trance by his poetry.

While Todd was sleeping , he wrote a note portraying his love for Todd in cursive , signing it off 'From Neil ❤️' And leaving Todd to sleep for a while longer , taking a walk in the beautiful snow and waiting for Todd's reaction. He tensed up as he felt someone's cold touch on his face from behind , and as he turned around he saw Todd's face , not for long though as Todd passionately pressed his lips to Neil's , expressing the same feelings from when he read the poem the night before.
