The days between Christmas and New Year's Eve flew by fast.   We had a packed week between spending time with the gang, our parents, the kids, and our special someone.  As for the kids, most of the time was spent with Amy helping cook our meals while the boys played catch.  When we were not doing that, we had the kids in the pool.  It was obvious that their mother did not let them do anything fun.  It broke my heart whenever they would bring up something they wanted to do but were afraid we would say no.

For example, they asked if they could stay with us on New Year's Eve to watch the fireworks together.  We were shocked when they were excited that they were going to get to stay with us this year.  Turns out their mother told them that she didn't care if their Aunt let them stay up to watch fireworks she did not want two brats to ruin her night, another reason for everyone to hate that woman.

On New Year's Eve, we started getting everything ready for the turkeys.  I started chuckling, letting everyone know this was a plus for being in Boston on New Year's Eve.  Fleur chuckled. "I have to agree.  I know deep South Texas is just as hot as New Orleans.  I giggled. "So true.  The only thing I am going to miss is lighting the fireworks myself."  We had to explain to the kids that in Boston, we were not allowed to light fireworks.  They were lit by professionals working for the city.

The guys made sure to let the women get everything ready for dinner.  We had to have the turkeys in the oven by nine o'clock.  Once we all were done with everything and the turkeys were in the oven and the hams in the roasters, we made our way to the family room to spend time together.  The rents asked if we were sure we wanted to spend our time with the kids and them after eating, and none of us were excited about going out to a club.

We explained that there was something on campuses for the students that stayed in Boston, but we were not interested.  Tristan pulled me close "Plus most of the guys that are going are the king douches in one of the fraternities, and they have a bet going to see who could kiss my girl."  I laughed."Yeah, I doubt they will try again."  Lace laughed."Oh, yeah, I remember that guy you clocked before you and Tris started seeing each other."  Giggling I nodded."Yep, they haven't tried again, but that could be because they gave up."

Heather laughed. "I think it is because they are afraid of you, girl."  I shrugged my shoulders."Not my problem."  Jean Luc patted Tristan on the back."Don't worry, dude.  Before you kill the messenger, remember I know a few of the guys in that frat."  "OK, tell me what it was about."  "It was rush week.  The rushes had to kiss a girl full on the lips in the middle of the quad.  Yes, the guy that tried to kiss Katrina made a bet, but he ended up winning."

"Wait, what?"  "Yeah, he said he knew you because his cousin attended school with you.  He told me that even though the spawn of Satan would harass you and you were not allowed to defend yourself.  There were a few times you clocked a guy knocking him on his ass.  He wanted to see if you were as strong as his cousin let on."

"Yeah, that move had me grounded for two weeks.  Just because one of the spawn of Satan's friends had a crush on him."  My dad shook his head."Let me guess, one for defending yourself and one because the guy was paying attention to you."  "Yep, especially since I was supposedly engaged to the douche."  Tristan pulled me close "Man they wouldn't even let you defend yourself against anyone."  "Nope, I was supposed to be miserable all the time because it made the spawn of Satan happy."

We all got in the pool and splashed around for a while, only getting out to baste the turkeys when needed.  Around six in the evening, our grandmothers called us to finish all the sides. Everyone took up the jobs they had previously except the cranberry sauce.   That was homemade, and it was going to be interesting to see how the guys took to that dish.  Yes, we did get the deserts the day before.  Amy loved helping with that, especially with the tick-tock desserts I made.
