026 good news and bad news
Eden soon found herself stuck in the back of Nancy's car with Steve and Dustin as Max, Lucas, and Beck squeezed into the actual seats while Robin sat up front with Nancy. They were going to tell Eddie what they'd found, and Eden was not excited to watch Eddie's face drop at their news.
"Not to be a wimp, but can I maybe sit in the car for this visit? Cause this is gonna totally and royally suck." Robin voiced, looking at Nancy. "It'll be fine." Nancy replied.
"I just can't stand to see those doe eyes of Eddie's break again. I really, really can't." Robin replied, shaking her head slightly. "You could say that again." Eden agreed, scooting slightly toward the edge of the trunk as Steve and Dustin dug into the food they'd bought for Eddie.
Steve shrugged, lifting a 6 pack. "At least he can drink himself into feeling better." Max raised her eyebrows, staring forward. "That's what my mom does."
"Why don't we just give it a trial run? "Hey, Eddie. Uh, good news first this time. We got you some Dustin-approved junk food and that six-pack that you requested. Oh yeah, and we found Vecna. Only the bad news is that he's in that other, darker, much scarier dimension that we told you about and the gate's closed, so we have no way of getting to him. Like, he's entirely shut off to us, so basically you're screwed. And no, no, I know that you were already screwed, but now you're line doubly, triply screwed." Robin rambled.
"Yeah, just say all that. You won't freak him out at all." Eden spoke, definitely hoping that was not how the news was broken.
"Sounds perfect to me." Beck nodded.
"Wait. Maybe we don't put it like that." Lucas added in, deciding to be the only one to actually say no. "We're one step closer to finding Vecna." That's what we say. That's what's important." Nancy decided.
"Not as fun." Beck noted, Eden silently nodding along. "See, Robin? Positive spin can make all the difference." Steve spoke. "Uh-huh." Robby replied, rolling her eyes.
"I'm positive that no matter how we spin it, we're screwed." Eden spoke quietly, Steve immediately pointing a Pringles at her. "That is not what I meant by a positive spin."
She just smirked lightly, shrugging. "I mean I was positive and I spun it. Sounds right to me."
"Oh, shit." Nancy gasped before Steve could respond, taking everyone's attention forward as they saw the horde and police all around where they'd left Eddie.
Dustin opened the trunk door, both himself and Steve waiting to let Eden out before following behind her. "Come on, this way." Nancy spoke, pulling the group along with her to secretly watch Sheriff Powell speaking to a camera crew.
