028 talking to the lights
"Couldn't we have tried a road, or something just slightly less creepy?" Robin wondered, looking between Eden and Nancy as the group continued their journey. "I think we're getting close. We're almost out of here. Don't worry." Nancy replied. Eden sent her a small glance, wondering if she was truly as hopeful as she sounded or if she was just trying to help Robin.
From the look on her face when their eyes met, it seemed like option two was a stronger contender for the truth.
"Eddie. Eddie. Hey, man. Uh... Listen, I just, uh... I just want to say thanks. For saving my ass back there." Steve spoke, beginning to walk back with Eddie as the girls continued on, having their own conversation.
"Shit. You saved your own ass, man. I mean, that was a real Ozzy move you pulled back there." Eddie replied, watching his feet to keep off of vines. "Ozzy?" Steve wondered, unsure of who Eddie was talking about.
"When you took a bite out of that bat. Ozzy Osbourne? Black Sabbath? He bit a bat's head off onstage." Eddie tried to explain, hoping any of his examples would remind Steve of the legend he spoke of. "I don't—" Steve shrugged.
"You know? Doesn't matter." Eddie sighed, shaking his head. "It's very metal, what you did. That's all I'm saying." Eddie fixed. "Thanks." Steve replied.
"Henderson told me you were a badass. Insisted on the matter, in fact." Eddie exposed, taking a few steps forward. "Wait, Henderson said that?" Steve questioned, a bit shocked.
"Oh yeah. Shit. Kid worships you, dude. Like, you have no idea. It's kinda annoying, to be honest. I don't even know why I care what that little shrimp thinks, but, uh, guess I got a little jealous, Steve. I guess I couldn't accept the fact that Steve Harrington was actually a good dude. Rich parents, popular, chicks love him. Not a douche? No way, man. No way. That, like, flies in the face of all the laws in the universe and my own personal Munson doctrine. Still super jealous as hell, by the way." Eddie exposed.
"Great." Steve laughed lightly. "Which is why I would never have jumped in that lake to save your ass. Not under any, uh... normal circumstances." Eddie continued to expose, only stopping at the sound of a distant growling.
"Nope. Outside of D&D, I am no hero. I see danger and I just turn heel and run. Or at least that's what I've learned about myself this week." Eddie continued again once the danger was gone. "Give yourself a break, man." Steve cut in.
Eddie just pointed forward. "See? The only reason I came in here was 'cause those ladies came in straight after you. Now, I was too ashamed to be the one who stayed behind. But Eden over there, jesus dude, she didn't even wait till you were gone a second before jumping in after you. Not one second. She just dove right in, scared the shit out of the rest of us doing it too. Now, I don't know what happened between you two, but if I were you, I would get her back. 'Cause that was as unambiguous a sign of true love as these cynical eyes have ever seen. And I say that too as someone who noticed that girl the second I met her. She's something special, and it is clear that you're something special to her. Don't waste that."
