Alex chuckled, rolling onto her side and propping herself up on her elbow. "I would say it was better than good," she said, grinning. "I might be biased, but I think that was the best way to ring in the new year."

Taylor rolled onto her side to face Alex, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "We'll have to make it a tradition then," she teased, reaching out to trace her fingers across Alex's bare stomach.

"Oh, I think I could get on board with that tradition."

She shifted closer, wrapping her arms around Taylor and pulling her in for a soft kiss.

Taylor moved, shifting her body so that she was lying partially on top of Alex, one leg thrown carelessly over her hip. Her head rested on Alex's chest, her ear pressed against her heartbeat.

Alex shifted slightly, wrapping one arm around Taylor's shoulders and pulling the blankets up around them both.

Alex linked her fingers with Taylor's, their hands clasped together loosely. She lifted their joined hands, studying them for a moment in the dim half-light of the bedroom.

She ran her thumb over Taylor's knuckles, tracing a pattern along her skin, before bringing their hands to her lips and pressing a gentle kiss to the back of Taylor's hand.

Alex suddenly lunged forward, rolling over so that she was pinning Taylor to the bed beneath her. She attacked her face with a flurry of kisses, moving from her lips to her cheeks, and down her jawline.

Taylor let out a squeak of surprise, quickly dissolving into giggles as she tried to fend off Alex's affectionate onslaught.

"Stop, stop!" she protested, even as she was still laughing.

Alex continued her onslaught, not letting up on her playful assault of kisses. She moved from Taylor's neck to her collarbone, nibbling and kissing every inch of skin she could reach.

"I can't help it," she teased between kisses. "You're just too cute."

Taylor tried in vain to push Alex away, still giggling uncontrollably. "Bubbles, stop!" she protested, though her efforts were halfhearted at best.

Alex just chuckled and continued her assault, peppering kisses all over Taylor's face, from her forehead to her nose to her cheeks and chin.

"I can't hear you over all this cuteness," she teased, planting another kiss on the tip of Taylor's nose.

"You're ridiculous," Taylor said, attempting to glare at Alex, though her expression was undermined by the smile that kept tugging at the corners of her mouth.

She tried to bat Alex away again, but Alex just caught her hands in hers, pinning them above her head as she continued to shower her face with kisses.

"You brought this upon yourself," Alex said, her voice muffled against Taylor's skin. "You shouldn't be so adorable if you don't want to get attacked with kisses all the time."

"I can't help it," Taylor replied, her words punctuated by small gasps and giggles as Alex continued her barrage of kisses. "Being adorable is my default state."

Alex finally relented, rolling onto her back and pulling Taylor on top of her like before. She wrapped her arms around her girlfriend's waist, settling her comfortably on top of her body.

"There you go," she murmured, grinning up at Taylor. "Right where you belong."

Taylor let out a content sigh, snuggling down into the embrace. She settled against Alex, her head resting on her chest, her ear pressed against her heartbeat.
