Chapter #17: Wallace Cup: Serena vs Drew!

The next day, at the waiting area in the Battle Royal Dome, was the second day of the Wallace Cup. Ash, Dawn, May Nando, Kenny, Dawn, Solidad, and three Alolan girls start cheering on Serena against Drew. When their names were called, Serena and Drew walked to the Pokemon battlefield for a performance battle. The score bar was revealed on the scoreboard screen at the top. Wicke started their battle in under five minutes.
Serena called her Snivy, and Drew called his Roserade.
Roserade and Snivy stare eye to eye, getting serious about their fight.

Wicke: "Snivy against Roserade. We got two grass pokemon looking serious right now, folks."

Dawn: "It looks like the Roserade have an advantage against Snivy."

Solidad: "I agree."

Zoey: "Yeah! Roserade's not just grass type, it's an Poison Type, too!"

Mallow: "I'm pretty sure not. because I saw Snivy's battling style, and no doubt both were competitive, even to the point of disadvantage."

Drew: "Use the Petal Dance!"

Roserade spins around quickly. When Snivy looks at Serena, Serene gives her a signal by saying a word. and releases pink petals from all around its body at the Snivy but Snivy managed to dodge it via jump. Drew's Score bar reduce to 5%.

Wicke: "Snivy dodged Roserade's Petal Dance without Serena's command, and we have never seen anything like it before."

Serena: "Snivy, Vine Whip!"

Two small pale yellow lights flash where the yellow collar and Snivy's green skin meet and a pair of green vines the same color as Snivy's skin comes out from in between them and Snivy strikes the Roserade with them. Roserade took multiple hits by slapping from Snivy's Vine Whip attack on Roserade causing Drew's Score bar reduce to 15%.

Wicke: "Unbelieveable! Snivy's Vine Whip slapped Roserade multiple times, causing Drew's score bar to reduce by 15%."

Zoey: "It looks like Snivy has experience in battle styles."

Dawn: "To be honest, Zoey. Snivy was originated belonged to Ash, but he gave it to Serena."

Zoey: "It is true, Ash?"

Ash: "Yep, and it looks like Snivy is helping Serena to win the first round of the contest battle."

Nando: "I see and nice to see that Snivy get serious like that."

Drew: "I didn't realize your Snivy was so strong."

Serena: "Yeah, but you don't know what's going to happen next."

Drew: "Same you. Roserade uses Poison Jab."

Both of Roserade's flowers at the end of its arms glow purple and try slams one of its flowers at the Snivy but Snivy managed jump over Roserades.

Serena: "Snivy, grab Roserade with your Vine Whip!

Two small pale yellow lights flash where the yellow collar and Snivy's green skin meet and a pair of green vines the same color as Snivy's skin comes out from in between them and Snivy grabbed Roserade with them and throw it back to the ground causing Drew's score bar reduces to 20%.

Wicke: "I can't believe it. Roserade is bigger than Snivy, but Snivy acrobatics are very impressive, and Snivy uses her Vine Whip to grab Roserade and throw them back to the ground. Drew score bar significantly reduced."

Max: "Wow! This is my first time to see that Drew's score bar was reduced to 40% while Serena was still 100%."

Professor Burnet: "That Snivy is very impressive and talented."

Kiawe: "And never underestimate the small one."

Serena: "And, look like you're going to lose, Drew."

Drew: "We see about that. Roserade, use Petal Dance!"

Roserade spins around quickly and releases pink petals from all around its body and start surrounding at the Snivy. Serena score bar reduce to 5%.

Serena: "Snivy, keep it looking out. Okay."

Serena's Snivy: [Snivy!]

Drew: "Now Poison Job!"

Both of Roserade's flowers at the end of its arms glow purple and extend forward as spikes, striking the Snivy but.

Serena: "Leaf Storm, let's go!"

Snivy jumps into the air and multiple glowing green leaves start spinning around Snivy's body. Roserade went through the Leaf Storm, Snivy vanished, and Roserade's poison jab failed. Serena's score bar was reduced to 10%, while Drew's score bar was reduced to 5%.

Drew: "What the! Snivy vanished."

Serena: "Snivy, now end this with your Leaf Blade!"

Snivy revealed that she's already jumped above Roserade.

Drew: "How did Snivy do that?"

The leaf at the end of Snivy's tail becomes surrounded by a wavy light green aura. Snivy then slashes the opponent with its tail. It leaves behind a light green trail of energy where it slashes the multiple times Roserade causing took multiple damages. Roserade flew to the ground, and Roserade managed to stand up once more.

Drew: "Impossible! Snivy is very good at performance and battle at the same time."

The time finally reached zero, and alarmed, they started ringing, causing them to end the match.

Wicke: "Time's up! And going on to the first Top #8 spot, it's Serena!"

Serena: "Snivy, we won!"

Serena's Snivy: [Snivy.]

Drew: "I shouldn't underestimate Snivy, and because of that, I lose."

Hala: "Quite simply one impressive Contest Battle move after another!"

Lusamine: "I never thought Snivy could outsmart Roserade's attack, such a wonderful talent."

The Masked Man: "One of the most thrilling and wonderful battles I've never seen on life!"

Wallace: "It truly was a miraculous battle I've ever seen!"

May: "Wow, Serena's Snivy is so powerful."

Ash: "That's Snivy, alright!"

Serena's Snivy: [Sniv!]

Solidad: "If ever I fight Serena on Finals, I totally prepare, especially her Snivy."

A few minutes later, Serena arrived at the waiting area.

Lillie: "Serena, congratulations on winning against Drew."

Lana: "Yeah, and you are amazing, Serena."

Serena: "Thank you, Lana and Lillie!"

Zoey: "By the way, Serena, if I win the battle, just you and me will be at Top #8."

Serena: "Yeah, I always wait and fight you on top #8."

Zoey: "I will, and I am next now, so see you guys later."

Dawn: "Good luck, Zoey."

May: "Serena, teach me some of your strategy."

Serena: "Why May?"

May: "To win the Pokemon contest, of course."

Serena: "Most of my performance and battling style were inspired by my friends Clemont, Bonnie, and Ash back in Kalos."

May: "Do you mean you got those battling styles from three of your friends, especially Ash?"

Serena: "Yeah, and if you use Pokemon carefully, you know how to do it."

Dawn: "So, Ash, are you still going to participate in the Island Challenge for a Z move?"

Ash: "Definitely Dawn, because Serena and I decided to go to Ula'Ula Island the next weekend."

Dawn: "I see."

Dawn whispered to herself about the Z Move.

Dawn: 'If I stay here in Alola and grab one or more Z moves, it could be useful for my Pokemon contest. Perhaps I am going to think right now. But which Z move I can get for my Pokemon.'

Serena was the first person to advance to the top #8 spot in the Wallace Cup after defeating Drew. Who else is going to win the top #8 spot in the Wallace Cup?
