First Meet

Aiden's POV

Someone bumped into me as I walked back from school. A girl, I notice as I look down, considering she was at least a foot shorter than me. Not any girl, though. She is the one who lived across from me, the one whose mother my mom was talking to yesterday. I remember her once smiling at me from her museum window, wearing some weird metal horns, though I'm not sure that smile was for me. She had immediately run off, then.

Now, standing in front of me, she looked different in her well braided hair. Her chestnut-brown skin glows in the sunlight. Her brown eyes are wide open as she looks up at me, and her cheeks have a hint of pink. I figured this might be a good time to introduce myself to her, considering we're neighbors and schoolmates.

"Hi," I said to her.

She opened her mouth to say something, then closed it again.

"Don't I know you?" I tried again. Maybe she's just shy and doesn't have random people saying hello to her. Though I'm not sure how else I was supposed to react.

"I.." she choked. Her voice sounds unnaturally deep, more like a weatherman.

She made a fist and hit her throat, which made her cough.

Okay, this girl is definitely something.

She looks at me a few more times, then smiles. "I know where you live!"

I stood there frozen. She was stalking me?

"You what?" I asked her, in case I misheard.

"I...um...demons. Goodbye!" She dashed away.

I don't understand what she meant to say. Demons? If she was trying to curse, she was pretty bad at it. And what was I supposed to do, if someone bumped to me, hit their throat and said they knew where I lived?

Technically, I know where she lived too, considering we're neighbors. But she couldn't have meant that, right?

Huh, this girl was definitely weird.
