When Sunghoon woke up the next morning, his head was pounding, and his vision was blurry.
Panic surged through him as he realized he was in a place he didn't recognize.
The unfamiliar room was stark and bare, and he struggled to remember how he had ended up here. Heeseung wasn't even a close friend—how could this have happened?
Sunghoon sat up quickly, his heart racing.
The last thing he remembered was watching a movie and drinking coke with Heeseung. His mind raced with possibilities, each one more alarming than the last.
He scanned the room, looking for any sign of Heeseung, but he was nowhere to be found.
Just as he was about to get up and leave, the door opened, and Heeseung walked in, carrying a tray with breakfast. Heeseung's face broke into a relieved smile when he saw Sunghoon was awake.
"Hey, you're up. How are you feeling?" Heeseung asked, setting the tray down on the bedside table.
Sunghoon's eyes widened, and he scrambled to his feet. "What happened? Why am I here?"
Heeseung raised his hands in a calming gesture. "Relax, Sunghoon. You fell asleep on the couch last night, and I didn't want to wake you. I brought you to the guest room so you'd be more comfortable."
Sunghoon's mind was spinning. He felt a deep sense of unease. "But. . . .I don't remember anything after the movie. Why do I feel so strange?"
Heeseung looked genuinely concerned. "You must have been really tired. Maybe the coke didn't sit well with you. I swear, I just wanted you to have a good time."
Despite Heeseung's reassurances, Sunghoon couldn't shake the feeling of dread. He needed to get out of there. "I need to go," he said, backing towards the door.
Heeseung stepped aside, his expression falling. "If that's what you want. I didn't mean to scare you, Sunghoon. I just thought we could be better friends."
Sunghoon grabbed his things and left the apartment in a hurry, his heart still pounding in his chest. As he walked away, he couldn't help but feel a mix of confusion and fear.
What had really happened last night? And why did he feel so unsettled around Heeseung now?
It's nothing, you're overreacting. he's just being kind and you are being a rude asshole.
He kept telling himself to calm the sense of unease. maybe because it's just new to me.
At university, Sunghoon walked into his first class feeling disoriented and anxious. He couldn't shake off the uneasy feeling from the night before. Heeseung's explanation had seemed plausible, but something about it didn't sit right with him.
Jay was absent, and Jake, who had been on a mission to avoid Sunghoon lately, couldn't help but notice the younger's panicked state during lunch.
Jake watched from a distance as Sunghoon entered the cafeteria, his eyes darting around nervously. He looked exhausted, like he hadn't slept at all.
Normally, Jake would have kept his distance, but today felt different. He felt a knot of worry tightening in his stomach.
Jake took a deep breath and slowly approached the younger who was busy staring blacnkly at his phone, his sandwich untouched on the table.
"Hey, Sunghoon," Jake started softly. "You okay? You look. . . .really out of it today."
Sunghoon glanced up, surprised to see Jake talking to him.
