CHAPTER 37

MEGHAN

"Are you ready to destroy someone else's livelihood?" Jaxson said, adjusting his gray tie that matched the rest of his suit. "I can hear the bells tolling in the distance." This was the same man who kept his second identity a secret. This was the same man who fought tooth and nail to win the heart of the one girl that made his heart swell. Still fighting.

I almost smiled, my teeth nearly showing. "More than I'll ever be." Which was the truth, I mean, they wanted me to be the villain they needed. So, I'm going to do the unthinkable. I'm going to build a grave so deep for that family, that it fits at least six different generations. I'm going to fill it with everything they stood for. I'm going to take the victory laps they've been taking since I was put in Juvie and wipe the color of life from their eyes.

I saw Clarise on Instagram live last night. She had nothing better to do than to criticize everything I wore. Talking about how I'll never beat her family. I'll never win. How I'll always be the criminal that I am. That I'll be known as the girl who went to juvie and that I was nothing like Meiko or ever I was able to step to Meiko. That Meiko was the greatest designer ever. That my sixty minutes episode was garbage and lies. That no one would ever believe my sob story. Which was ironic because majority of her comments were praising me for my sixty-minute episode. Saying how I was inspiration to them.

"Let's go, ruin some lives, mama." Jaxson said proudly, looping my arm with his as we walked into the courtroom. On each side, there's a set of seats. Each side filled to the brim. Some with the earlier generations of the Runnels family sending glares that held empty threats. Others with old friends and new ones. Lucas, Monica and Sami were sitting on my left. Beatrice, Destiny, and lastly the one person that stayed neutral in all this, Stephen, Kayden's best friend.

"We are gathered here today for the people v. Meghan case. Please for the arrival of Judge Masters." One of the security guards said, holding my case file in his hand handing it to her afterwards. Judge Masters then sat in her seat next to the podium in front of us.

Their lawyer stood up. "Your honor to begin, I'd like to call Ms. Hawkins to the stand."

Before I stood, Jaxson gave my hand a gentle squeeze. I gave him a small smile, thanking him for the comfort he gave me. I headed to the stand, the podium, and they placed the bible.

"Do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth so as you shall live?" the security asked.

"I do." I said to the guard, sitting down afterwards.

"Ms. Hawkins, how long have you and my client known each other?"

"We've known each other for three years. Hence going to high school together."

I wasn't about hold back on my disdain for any of these people. These were the same lawyers that put me in juvie. I'm going to ruin these lawyers' lives. I'm going to destroy everything they built for themselves. I'm going to destroy everything they've worked for. It'll crumble in their faces, and I'll leave them begging their wives to take them back.

"Then why did you hack her computer and blasted her only fans page out?" he pressed. "It says here that you went to juvie for that, yes?"

I tilted my head a little, eyeing him suspiciously. "You don't remember? You're the one who sent me to Juvie in the first place."

He almost scowled, unpleased with it. "You did not answer my question. Why did you hack her computer?"

"I can't hack a computer to save my life. Besides, I couldn't care less about her only fans page. If you don't believe me, then I don't care about your beliefs either."
