CHAPTER 43
Meghan
IT was eerie. Thinking back, I really shouldn't have done this, but at least Jaxson knows where I am. Even though, I had to hang up midway because he was yelling at me. Either way, I needed to end this fast. At least, everyone else will be happy to know what happened to me. They have a Meghan to make a smear campaign for, no matter the public's opinion.
I walked in, pushing the heavy, metal doors. "You can come out now. I came just as you wanted."
I heard the clacking of his boots as he came into the dim light. "I knew you'd come to your senses."
I want to use a rock and bash that smug, proud smile off his face. "Whatever, what else do you want? Since suffering seems to be your favorite thing I get to do daily."
His smug smile dropped. "All I want is us to be together again. I want a second chance. I never loved Clarise. We were drunk and—"
The glint of guilt in his eyes was a ploy. Considering my track record, he assumed that I'd fall for his tricks again. He took my hands, pressing rough lips on my knuckles. "I thought she was you. She drugged me."
I stepped back, peeling my hands away from his hands. "Kayden, if you really think I'd fall for that, then you belong in Belview."
He pulled me close, my hands crashing into his chest. "The only thing I'm crazy for is you, baby. Run away with me. Marry me. Let's forget everything and start over," he leaned in, near to mine. I could smell the alcohol on him. And something else. I didn't feel anything when he touched me. Why didn't I notice this before? He tried to kiss me, but I turned my head.
"What's wrong, babe?" he tried to play innocent.
"You really think I'd get back together with you knowing where your mouth's been?" I pulled his hands off me, disgusted. "I rather kiss the dirt outside."
"Is it, Lucas?" his voice grew stoic and cold, rage simmering through. "Are you seriously choosing him over me?"
Am I? I mean, he is more attractive and not as egotistic. And his smile...he should be arrested for having a smile that beautiful. Don't get me started on everything else. The way his muscle flex against his shirt, almost busting out. They leave me no choice but to look. Who wouldn't? It doesn't help that he's funny, courageous, kind, and is extremely hot when serious.
"I'm not choosing—"
"Your mine," he gritted, his body pressed against mine, his voice low in a whisper. His lips finally pressed against mine. I tried to him push away, but he kissed harder. His arms caged me like an animal. When his tongue grazed my bottom lip, I knew he was asking me for permission. I kept my mouth tight. Man, he sucks. How did I even fall for him the first time?
He deepened the kiss, holding my nape. I kept fighting, squirming in his hold. Screaming although they were muffled since he overpowered them. His grip grew tighter. I finally bit his lip.
He pulled back, glaring at me. "You—"
I took that as my chance and hit him. "That's for cheating on me. And I'm not going anywhere with you. You're insane." I turned to leave, only to hear a maniacal laugh erupt from his mouth.
"When I said to run away with me, I wasn't asking. It's either you do as I say, or everyone you care about, dies. Their blood is on your hands." He caged me between the wall and the door. "Besides, you won't be able since all the doors are locked from the outside."
My phone buzzed, grabbing his attention.
Jaxson: I'm coming. Hang on.
He took my phone and looked at the message. "You, stupid wretch." He tossed my phone, smashing it against the concrete. "Calvary won't save you now."
I tried to fight him off. "Stop! Kayden! Stop!"
He smiled maniacally. "But I've been waiting so long for this, babe. I finally get to taste you."
He began leaving wet kisses down my neck, tearing at my shirt. My tear ducts empty as my cheeks became their new home, a stream. I scratched and clawed at his chest, trying to push him away.
"As much as I love to hear you scream, baby, I prefer it to be my name," his hands reached my pants, pulling them as he held my arms up against the wall with the other. heaving back, my forehead collided with his so hard that he stumbled. My break in freedom ran short when it only took him less than five minutes to reach me. I tried to run another way, but he grabbed my arm and pushed against the wall. "Stay still, little butterfly. I haven't had my meal yet." The tears continued to fall, as he pushed my head into wall. Black spots appeared in vision.
Crap. So much trying to end this once and for fall.

Everything was blurry, when I woke up. I remember being in the warehouse, but this doesn't look like it. Where am I?
"You're not in the warehouse. That's for sure." I blinked a few times, adjusting to the sunlight. "What the hell were you thinking going there alone, Meghan?! Jesus, were you out of your mind?!"
"Calm down, Jaxson. She just woke up." I noticed Marisa give his shoulder a squeeze.
He sighed. "How are you feeling?"
Everything came back. All memories from last night. My tears came out before I could even stop them, looking at my hands in shame. "I'm sorry...I'm so sorry, Jaxson." I couldn't look at him. I knew he saw me as a burden. I keep stressing him out. He's been dealing with the smear campaigns, and I went and did this.
He hugged. "I'm just glad you're alright. Please, don't go doing stupid things like that again, okay?"
I nodded. "I promise. I won't be a burden on you anymore."
He frowned, pulling away. "Firecracker, what are you talking about?"
"I mean, the campaigns. Me going to meet Kayden. I just wanted to do this on my own so that I don't stress you out anymore. Since I moved in, you've been taking care of me. You barely have time with each other. I feel like I'm getting between you guys. I wanted to end everything myself."
"Meghan, you were never a burden on me. You're my little cousin. You're family. I'm supposed to take care of you. You will never be a burden to me. As for the Kayden situation, we'll talk about that later. Right now, you need to get better."
"How did you find me?"
"Lucas called me." He sighed. "Don't ever do that again. You had me worried, sick."
"I won't. There's no way to get through to him anyway." I looked away at the window. "He's way too far gone."
"When we find him, I'm going to make sure he has a first class ticket to hell."
A/N:
Meghan can't catch a break. I'm sorry girl. Calvary is coming faster than you think it will. I promise.
So...I've been meaning to tell you this... I submitted this story for the Wattys. This is my first time in the nine years I've been on Wattpad. Wish me luck.
