Hating someone is a very crazy thing.
You two can be either arguing, fighting or even.... ignoring one another.
Which Freen is doing to me. Every walking past each other through the school corridors she will keep her head hung low on her phone while her friend talks. Or every time we have to be partners in our home room. She doesn't speak. Not one glance my way and just stares ahead as our teacher speaks.
But honestly, I'm loving it because I don't have to hear her horrible voice. But it intrigues me at the same time. Because it's not like her. At all.
It's been a week since all the chaos has happened. The fight between me and her and the dinner between our two families. And since then, a lot has changed.
......
"What do you mean you have to try and become friends with her??!!" Nam screams, making a few people glance her way in the cafeteria. I immediately lean over to cover her mouth with my hand, giving an apologetic expression towards the other students. I turn towards her with a glare. "Stop screaming!" I scold as she shoves my hand off her mouth while looking at me with her eyes narrowed.
"Can you blame me?! You tell me stuff and act like it's no big deal!" She argues back, taking a sip of her red slushy. I roll my eyes at her response. "That's because it's not meant to be that BIG of a deal. You're way too dramatic." She pouts at my insult, stabbing her straw into her icy drink. I huff in annoyance before looking around realising I see no sign of our other friends.
"Oi Nam where are the others?" I ask making her shrug. "Don't know. I don't think they're coming in school today."
However, as she responds my attention fades away from her and onto the girls that enter the cafeteria.
My gaze stays on them, but on one specifically. The one that makes my blood boil. The one that acts like she knows it all. My enemy. And the one I have to try and gain her trust to get information out of her.
Rebecca.
My eyes stay on her as she walks towards a table to sit down with her friends, clearly unbothered about anything and anyone around.
Meanwhile I've been ignoring this girl for a whole week because I'm trying to think of ways to make her trust me. It's not going to be an easy thing at all.
I sigh in frustration before turning forward to casually see Nam staring at me, a wide smirk planted on her lips with that teasing glint in her eyes. "What are you looking at?" I snap making her chuckle. "Nothing.... except seeing you stare at Miss Armstrong." She starts. "You in love with her or something?" I lean forward immediately and I flick her forehead making her whine.
"Don't even start Nam. I'm not in the mood." She rolls her eyes, rubbing her forehead with a finger. "Relax, I'm just kidding." She begins.
"But why are you so moody anyway? Can't think of ways to make her trust you?" I nod, leaning back in my chair. "It's pissing me off. I've been ignoring her since I'm trying to come up with ideas to start conversations without trying to sound like I wanna beat her up." I respond making her eyebrows furrow.
"It can't be that hard." I look at her with an eyebrow raised making her huff. "Go over to her and- I don't know just say hi or something. Or buy her a milk tea." Nam suggests. I look back at Rebecca who is on her phone as her friends chat away. I think for a moment. This will probably not even work one bit. She'll think I'm weird. But this is the only thing I can start from. It's this or nothing. I promised my dad at the end of the day.
"Fine." I mumble as I stand up making Nam pat my back, giving me a thumbs up. I groan before strolling towards the lunch line.
........
Freen eventually buys a milk tea, her hands gripping the cup like she's holding onto it for dear life. She looks where Rebecca is sitting. Her back facing towards her. She takes a deep breath in, knowing this whole interaction will be awkward as fuck. But Freen knows she has to do it. It's either this or starting a conversation which she definitely cannot do.
She then turns to her left and notices Nam at their table, mouthing "Go to her." Freen runs her hands through her long dark brown hair and finally without hesitation, she starts walking confidently towards the group of girls without even knowing. When she gets to the table, everyone looks up at her with confusion. Especially Irin. Rebecca just casually continues to stare at her phone screen, very uninterested with whoever is at their table.
Freen wanting to immediately leave, slams her the drink down next onto the table next to the unbothered girl which gets the her attention right away, looking up at Freen.
Their eyes lock. Freen's full of nervousness while Rebecca's is confusion. The girl then breaks it, staring at the milk tea in front of her. "Take it." Freen blurts out. But before Rebecca can even respond, Freen walks speedily away, grabbing Nam by the arm and forces her friend up, dragging Nam with her as she leaves the cafeteria.
Rebecca furrows her eyebrows, looking at her friends who shrug as well, all having no clue what the heck just happened.
