I don't know how long it's been since we've been in this position. Rebecca hasn't moved away from me, her eyes still staring into mine. A flicker of anger but something so small like hope is in there. Our eyes have stayed locked since. We've probably even missed lunch but it doesn't matter.

If I can get her to trust me, then it's worth it.

All of a sudden she steps back, her eyes breaking contact with mine. I don't move yet, my back still firmly against the locker door even though she's moved away a lot to give me my space again. We don't say anything. Just silence lingers in the air. But it's not angry silence or even awkward. It's kind of... relaxing?

Maybe.

I notice the way she sighs before her eyes snap back to mine.

"Why?" She asks making me furrow my eyebrows. "Why what?" I question back making her roll her eyes. "Why do you want to be my friend so much? Why now? It doesn't add up Chankimha. You hated me and now all of a sudden you want to be friends with me?"
I gulp slightly at her confused words. She's right though. I didn't play this game well. I just randomly started to ask her to be my friend.

Stupid Freen!

I clear my throat a bit to hard before replying. "Because I started to think. I mean.. they have made us hate each other for no reason. We barely even know each other and we literally despise one other. For what? Because of our parents, Rebecca." I notice her expression change after I finish. More understanding than before, like she's thinking about it deeply.

"Do you really want us to hate each other? Do you want our children to hate one another if we have them? Do you really want this feud to always continue? We can stop this. We don't have to start off as friends. We can be civil. But I would really love to be your friend Rebecca. To put a stop to this pathetic hatred that has gone on for generations." I finish softly, my gaze never breaking Rebecca's.

She doesn't reply. And that's okay. I understand this must be a lot for her. Though I kind of actually feel bad about gaining her trust when in reality I'm just using her for information. But I push that back. I can't stop now. Not when she's almost right between my fingers.

I smile a little at her, my smile gentle and filled with fake genuine. "Just think about it. That's all I want you to do. You don't have to make up your mind now. Because I do understand it's a lot to take in Rebecca." I continue, my tone filled with understanding. I notice the way she raises an eyebrow at that, not actually expecting me to understand what she might be thinking or feeling.

I step closer to her. "But if you do make your mind up. Meet me at the alleyway behind school at 6:30pm on Thursday." I say. And before she can respond I walk away. I don't turn back, not wanting to act like I'm nervous. I need to act like I'm confident in this. I've given her two days to think about this. And hopefully she'll come to the alleyway.

Because one wrong move?
It's over.

_______________

-After school-

It's the end of the day and Freen's word have been in my mind ever since. Does she actually mean it? Does she really want to be my friend?

I sigh frustratedly, walking out the school and towards my black motorcycle. This is annoying me. I've been trying to find any sort of lie out of her words. But I can't. She seemed... genuine. Too genuine. I don't know if I can trust her. I mean she's my enemy at the end of the day. What if her parents told her to say that?
