It was raining. Usually Tris woke up with the sun shining through her grimy windows, but today the rain perfectly accented the concrete floor of her small room. A clock above her oven told her it was four in the morning.
She squinted. Why was she up at four?
Ah yes there was knocking at her door.
Looking down at her robe, she decided it was modest enough, but only opened the door partway.
"It's Choosing Day Tris." Tobias "four" Eaton was already dressed, in a leather jacket that was a little big and dark jeans torn at the knee.
She made a noise halfway between a groan and a yawn and slammed the door in his face.
After a Dauntless Special ice cold shower, it didn't take her long to throw on a matching leather jacket and leggings, but her movements were slow with sleep.
When she opened the door again, Four was still there his muscular frame leaning against the wall. He looked up from his hands.
"Finally."
"I took like..." She grabbed his arm and looked at his watch, "Twelve minutes".
He smiled and kissed her. Taking his hand in hers and leading her down the deserted hallway.
"So The Choosing should be interesting."
After the siege of Erudite headquarters and the Edith Prior videos, most people had forgotten about the latter, but Evelyn and the Factionless wanted better treatment still. So her and the remaining other faction leaders had decided on a new law, applying to the whole city.
The "Born Factionless Clause" allowed any factionless juvenile from sixteen to nineteen to participate in this year's ceremony as long as they were born factionless. They would choose a faction just as any other kids from the five factions, and from this year on the sixteen year old factionless would join the Choosing Ceremony annually. Whether they stayed in that faction however, was up to them.
Tris assumed most of them would choose Abnegation or Amity because those initiations were the easiest, but she supposed some daredevils might try their luck with dauntless.
"It should be... interesting."
"Do you think we'lol have any Abnegation?"
"Not unless they're Divergent, no. Unless..." She trailed off and Tobias squeezed her hand. Parents could be cruel.
It didn't make sense why anyone who had a perfectly good childhood would transfer from perfect Abnegation to rebellious Dauntless. But Tris had and she had no regrets.
"You'll have to tell me how the first introductions go."
They would be split up today, with Tris attending the Ceremony and Four staying back to wait by the net.
They walked down the steps to the training room, chatting with predictions on what the initiates would be like and trading stories from their own initiations that they hadn't already traded.
While they we're setting things up, Christina joined them her black leggings, sports bra, and cropped hair giving Tris the very definition of badass.
"I wonder if they'll be any hotties..." She whispered into Tris's ear when Tobias was at the other side of the room. While they had steered clear of talking about Will, Tris still felt a pant of guilt at the thought that Christina would now need a new "hottie".
"Christina they're sixteen."
"Ok first of all, you and Tobias are like twice that age gap, and second the factionless could be eighteen or nineteen."
"You want a factionless?" Though she knew plenty of nice factionless people the thought of factionless teenaged boys made her think of Edward. And his eyepatch. And butter knives. She shuddered.
"I feel like they have a bad side."
Tris rolled her eyes as she finished tying a punching bag up.

An hour later they were all on the roof. Four kissed Tris goodbye, even though it would only be a few hours before they saw each other again. Christina fake gagged at the sight, though her and Will had far more PDA and she knew it.
The familiar sound of metal on metal alerted Tris and Christina to the train approaching. Along with six other Dauntless Representatives, they jumped on the train, ready for a new batch of initiates.

Ok sorry that was short but I wanna get like ten POVs in here and if they're all like 2000 words it's gonna be long. Also sorry if Tris sounds like a beotch through this whole thing I'm kinda pissed at her for dying and I haven't read the book in a while.
Inej is next! And dude I'm so hyped for her.
