Over the summer that followed, the family made the decision to move from California to New York, and Tony began to construct a 93-story building he called "Stark Tower".
While Hadley wasn't a fan of Tony's plan to plaster a giant label of their last name on the building, she was pleased by her new room that Tony and Rhodey worked together to ensure was exactly what she wanted (to make up for destroying her old room and everything in it).
Besides, by the time Tony was getting around to attaching the giant neon lights of their family name, she was already gone back to school.
Unfortunately, things quickly fell to chaos for both family members. Tony got hit first, as a Norse God (the so-called god of mischief) appeared through a portal with a goal of world domination. While "Loki" was going around attacking and brainwashing people, Hadley was still enjoying a relatively normal return to school.
As Tony was joining a group of people with exceptional powers and skillsets to fight off an alien invasion, Voldemort caught word of the destruction of his horcruxes and was on a warpath headed straight to hogwarts.
As soon as Tonks heard of this, she (and a horde of aurors) hurried to the school to warn them. The students were all gathered together to start evacuating, but the older students were ready and willing to rally to support the elite and fight the dark lord and his followers alongside the aurors. The teachers were paired up and assigned age groups to lead to safe places off the school grounds.
Howells (the headmaster hired to replace dumbledore), Mcgonagall (the transfiguration professor), and Hagrid (the groundskeeper) stayed behind to start preparing the schools defenses. Remus (the defense against the dark arts professor) and Sirius (the history of magic professor) took the lead with the first years and baby Teddy.
Cortez (the potions professor) and Reader (the muggle studies professor) had the second years, while Sprout (the herbology professor) and Flitwick (the charms professor) had the third years. Sinestra (the astronomy professor) and Vector (the arithmancy professor) had the fourth years, and Trewlaney (the divination professor) and Hooch (the flying instructor) had the fifth years. Pomfrey (the mediwitch) and Simmons (the castle's caretaker) had the sixth years.
Hadley chose to stay behind. The elite stayed by her side without hesitation. The rest of the seventh year students all were equally determined to support their personally appointed royalty in whatever form was needed.
Sirius, Sinestra,Vector, and Trewlaney chose to stay behind to keep watch of the younger students, while Remus, Flitwick, Sprout, Hooch, Pomfrey, Simmons, Cortez, and Reader returned to stand guard and fight back with borderline home-alone-esque hijinks. The aurors took on the more skilled of the death eaters, while the rest were fended off by the teachers and students.
Sprout was using carniverous plants as attack dogs while the rest tripped and tied up enemies.
Hooch flew around on her broom, shooting spells from above and zipping out of sight and reach before they could react.
Pomfrey and Cortez were running around tossing bottles of potions with various affects at their enemies like they were molotov cocktails.
Simmons was using cleaning spells to make the floors slippery and/or sticky, usually by staircases and lockable rooms.
Reader knocked enemies down with an impressive aim as she sped around with magically enhanced paintball and tranquilizer guns in either hand.
While the many aurors, teachers, and students made quick work of stopping the death eaters, Headmaster Howells managed to subdue and even behead the giant snake, finally putting an end to voldemort's final horcrux. In a matter of a few hours, the death eaters had been defeated, captured, and gathered up to be taken into wizard-police custody.
While most of the aurors shifted focus to keeping watch of the captured death eaters, and the teachers to cleaning up the messes and repairing any damage, the students and remaining aurors worked together to corner Snape and Voldemort (the only two left) in the great hall. This is where things went wrong.
The dark wizards were cornered, enraged, and lashed out accordingly. The aurors, being in front of the group of students, were the ones on the other end of the fury. With repeated flashes of green, the killing curse claimed the lives of the six aurors in the room.
The elite then stepped forward. Luna, Parker, Draco, and Hermione stood in front of the students, wands raised defensively, while Jace, Lyra, and Hadley snuck up behind the wizards with the aid of the invisibility cloak. Unluckily for the trio, just as the girls muttered spells to capture the men, Snape shouted out the name of an unknown spell aimed for Jace.
Voldemort and Snape dropped to the ground, knocked out and bound, just as long, harsh wounds were magically slashed open on Jace. The boy fell to the ground with a sharp and pained cry, the elite screaming out and rushing to his side. He had five long gashes stretching long and deep across his torso from hip to shoulder, one going high enough to cut across his throat.
The boy looked up at his siblings and friends, gathered around him frantically chanting healing spells with shaking hands and terrified eyes, with teary eyes and wheezing breaths. Parker and Lyra sat on either side of his head, crying and pleading with him to stay awake, to not leave them.
Jace reached to grab one of their hands in each of his, grasping them as tightly as he could, as he coughed and choked a bit on his own blood. Tears streamed down each one of the elite's faces as they watched the triplets' heartbreaking realization that this wasn't something that they could heal.
Jace looked up at his siblings and smiled sadly. "I love you both, so so much. You'll be okay without me. You'll have the elite and most important: you'll have each other. So you just take care of each other, and of Mom and Dad, and it'll all be okay. I'm okay, I'll have died saving my friends, I'm okay with that. I love you all." He looked around, meeting the eyes of each of his friends to be sure they heard him.
He gave one last shaky breath before his chest stilled and his eyes glazed over. Parker and Lyra bent over, burying their faces in each other's shoulder as they sobbed. The rest of the elite huddled around them, trying to comfort them, even as they too cried out in grief.
While a battle that could have killed hundreds, if not thousands, had only succeeded in claiming seven in the end, the friend group known as the elite would never be the same.
