The Prophecy / Aegon Targaryen out now!
"Gwayne this is Avalon, my queen."
"Co queenie." Gwayne agreed hugging her. Avalon chuckled looking to Alicent.
"Oh he is adorable." Avalon agreed.
"Standard-bearers to the front! Packhorses to the rear! Clear way for the mounted knights..." The captain of the guard shouted out.
"Lord Commander. Your host is mustered and ready to march." a squire told criston but he was watching Avalon talk with another man and it was distracting.
"You are even more stunning then i heard." Gwayne added.
"He is a flirt ignore him." Alicent begged
"But i miss being flirted with." Avalon corrected. "You are staying in the castle we will have a room prepared."
"He is joining our hand." Alicent countered.
"But you just got here." Avalon corrected. "You must be tried."
"I'm ready for action." Gwayne assured.
"I'm glad we're together, even briefly." Alicent offered before moving to criston. "Ser Criston. May I present my brother, Ser Gwayne Hightower, arrived last night from Oldtown." Brother. Brother. Monster looking seductively at his girl.
"Ser Criston. Or mayhaps I should say, my lord Hand?" Gwayne answered.
"Ser Gwayne, welcome to King's Landing." Criston agreed. Avalon moved to his side her hand grazing his.
"How exhilarating to arrive at court after three long months on the road to find my lord father, who served three kings faithfully, unseated as Hand of the King. And by a man from such modest beginnings." Gwayne added. "What a giddying ascent the gods have bestowed on you." Avalons lips pursed looking between them.
"Ser Gwayne has volunteered to accompany you into battle." Alicent added.
"We have a full complement, Your Grace." Criston corrected.
"Then you shall have a fuller one." Alicent agreed. Avalon didn't know why there was tension between them maybe Alicent knew what Avalon had done with Criston and was upset maybe it was the fact that her father was gone but Avalon never liked Otto but Alicent loved her father no matter how difficult he was.
"The march will be hard, Ser." Criston warned.
"No one is more delighted than I to march out to war with a Dornishman." He added turning to Alicent and kissing her hand. "Sister." He turned to Avalon "It was so nice to meet you my queen." He kissed her hand as well.
"You as well gwayne. Im eager to get to know you better when you return." Avalon added.
"May the Seven guide you, good knight... and lead you not into shadow and death." Alicent told criston before heading off.
"I will miss you. I will pray for your return safe and quick." Avalon told him. "And all that formal nonsense Alicent is good at." Criston chuckled.
"I thank Your Grace for her prayers. And request that she grant her favor... that her Lord Commander may go into battle with her blessings in his heart." Criston repeated. She launched herself at him hugging him tight.
"Come back so i can love you right." Avalon requested kissing his cheek and passing off her favor.
" Suits you, Your Grace." Leon remarked. "Valyrian steel. Worth more than a castle."
"A sight to stir the passions. Aegon the Conqueror reborn."
"Just get on with it." Aegon murmured.
"Are you- umm... could you..."
"Yes your grace?" Larys questioned.
"Do you think you could talk to Aegon? Scare him into ignore his impulses to fly out and join criston." Avalon answered.
"It would be my honor." Larys agreed.
"Thank you larys."
"What is your business?" a man stopped larys at the door.
"There are rumors that the King readies himself to fly to war."
"And what is it to you?" Knight Ned waters countered.
"Only that I think it would benefit all of us to prevent our king from being brutally slain by our enemies, and his body parts scattered to beasts, and his court come to ruin." Larys answered. "Would you not agree?"
"Your brother was charming-"
"Did you sleep with Cole?" Alicent countered. Avalon swallowed the lump in her throat.
"I meant to... i wanted to tell you- remember you said that Criston would be a good match-"
"And you said he was from too small a house." Alicent objected
"Then he kissed me and- im not marrying him I'm just... we just... i may like him more than i realized." Avalon admitted. "Are you mad at me?"
"I was given the Conqueror's name and his crown, so I shall wear his armor to war." Aegon agreed. "I fly to meet Ser Criston."
"Small imposition before you depart then, Your Grace." Larys offered glancing around. Aegon dismissed his men silently.
"There are diverse rumors whispered on the streets of your city. One such is that Your Grace sends his forces to battle, and, in his courage and wisdom, flies with them." Larys offered. "Another is that His Grace was outwitted by his counselors and persuaded to fly to war with Ser Criston, so that Queen Alicent may reign in his absence with Prince Aemond at her side." Larys informed him. "Absurd, of course." Larys lied.
"Who spreads these lies?"
"It matters little." Larys countered. "Tales take on a life of their own... like weeds. Unless they are tended."
"Excuse me your graces ." Larys said coming into Avalons chamber.
"Come in. Aeron baby say hi." Avalon said. Aeron hid his face in her chest.
"I just wanted to let you both know that king Aegon has changed his mind." Larys informed them. "He will be staying in kings landing."
"Thank you for speaking with him." Avalon agreed
"What did you say?" Alicent countered
"Only what he needed to hear."
